( open ) you are cordially invited...

Who: EVERYONE!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Jim Kirk and Victor Frankenstein's wedding, and everyone is invited!
When: March 30th

The Bachelor Party (( CLOSED to invited CR ))

The evening before the wedding, Jim and Victor gather up their closest friends, admittedly not many when they haven't been on the Fleet for that long. Bachelor parties would usually happen in separate, but that's difficult to do when they share so many friends, and so they decide to throw the party together.

The setting is simple but cozy; they've picked out a small pub in town, and reserved a rustic little room in the basement. There's a large table with a few games, most notably a chessboard, and a sitting area with couches and chairs gathered around a coffee table, in front of a lit up fireplace. On a small bar by the corner there are a few drinks on offer, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and on a table next to it there is a selection of snacks and various kinds of finger foods to make for a light but hopefully filling dinner.

Courtesy of Kirk 1.0, there's also a music system and a microphone set up next to the sitting area, and you know what that means... karaoke! It's guaranteed to be more fun the drunker you get. Speaking of drunker, someone will definitely be tossing around the idea for strip chess, so hopefully you won't get too embarrassed if people start losing pieces of clothing. But hey, at least everyone's a winner.

The party will go well into the night, and Jim and Victor likely won't leave until everyone else does. So feel free to stick around, play games, sing songs and get drunk... if you get really drunk, you can always make yourself comfortable on one of the couches and fall asleep there. (The patrons can just kick you out eventually, it's okay.)

You Are Cordially Invited... (( OPEN to everyone! ))

The preparations were rushed and the invitations sent out in a bit of a hurry, but it's not like there's ever a lot of time to prepare for a wedding, when one doesn't want to do it aboard one of the ships. But everything seems to be well put together, and there's a very rustic and homely feel from the moment you arrive.

The ceremony proper happens at the lodge, a spot that has been set up with a few seats and a set of stairs leading up to a small canopy, all of it decorated with white fabric and an abundance of flowers. It's short and sweet, and after vows are exchanged and a few words from the one performing the ceremony (hopefully no one will find it too weird that it's the other Jim), they slip on their rings and share a kiss, delighted to let the celebrations continue onto the reception.

With Jim and Victor taking the lead, the guests are walked across a bridge, lit with candle lanterns, strings of white flowers embellishing the wooden frame. The good portion of the reception is outside, and everything is decorated with lanterns, string lights hanging everywhere and resembling stars more and more as the sun starts to set, and (yes, you guessed it) more flowers.

As a matter of fact, there are flowers a little all over the place. In jars hanging from trees, tied to the backs of chairs, bundled up in crates that are spread out all over the area. The food is set up on large tables, divided by starters, main dishes and desserts, the wedding cake having its own smaller but more prominent stand near the dessert table. There are no assigned seats, however. After all, everyone was invited and it's not like there are that many people on the Fleet, so just grab a plate, help yourself, and take a seat wherever! You might even find a few of the locals joining in on the party a little later, but both grooms seem more than happy to welcome them too.

The party goes on a little into the night. Everyone is free to hang around for as long as they want, or leave early if you're scared of the dark... but don't worry, there are lights all over the place! There are also plenty of cozy little nooks and corners where guests can make themselves comfortable, and if you start to get a little chilly, feel free to borrow one of the many blankets on offer, or simply head into the indoors portion of the reception. It's small but there are a few seats and even a fireplace to keep the place warm.

If you like sitting by a fire but would much rather stay outside, a small campfire will be lit up just before the sun starts to set, and a small table with plates of something that looks close to marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits set up nearby. Have a seat around the fire and build your own s'more, and toss in a campfire song or two if you're feeling inspired.

And of course, can't have a wedding without a dance floor! Or two, as it so happens: one indoors, and another one outside, the latter far more enchanting, with endless string lights hanging high above a flat wooden platform. There's a fairly modern music system so you might recognize a lot of late 20th and early 21st music playing, but for those more musically inclined there are also plenty of local instruments you can pick up and try your luck at playing a song, or even sing.

The party is very loose and carefree. Do what you want, come and go as you please, steal either of the grooms away for a dance, or find a pair among the other guests... whatever you want to do, and however long you want to stay, feel free to do as you please!

[Spock has protested but somehow still has a glass of hot chocolate in his hand. Dark hot chocolate. So it's safe to say, by the time he sees and walks over to Remy, he's buzzed at the very least.

The smile he offers is a little more obvious than it otherwise would have been. But he's still upright and barely slurring. He's alright.

For now.]

Are you not engaging in the activities?

'm not silly 'nough to think I can win a chess game 'gainst 'nyone here, [There's no shame in that, he knows for the most he is going to be one of the least intelligent people in the room. And he doesn't have an issue with that. He was sure many couldn't do what he could, and that was just with his thieving skills, let alone his mutation.] I need to at least wait 'til people be drunk to even stand a chance.

My mental faculties have been dampened by intoxicating beverages...[He plops into a chair and sips his drink deeply, watching the party. He's still using big words so Spock figures he's not that bad yet.]

And humans often are unpredictable in strategic games. You could theoretically best me. Or, at the least, give me a challenge.

Ah, thanks. [If that was anyone else Remy would had taken it as sarcasm, rather than Spock just stating a fact.] Ya makin' me wish we had something like Risk here 'nstead with of chess then, or poker. [Remy really can't even begin to guess if Spock would be good at poker or not.

He probably would be brilliant with card counting or something.]

[Spock's head more rolls toward Remy than turns. Maybe he isn't as good as he self-diagnosed. Still he sips from the glass again and tilts his head.]

I would find the chance to pit my mind against yours fascinating. You are fascinating.

[Spock's not-smile is pretty much a tiny smile at this point. He sips and thinks to himself.]

We should engage in some activity. [Very precise.] You select.

[Oh Dieu, he was drunk, wasn't he, or very close to being so. It was so funny, and Remy was trying his best to suppress his laughter at it all, not wanting to offend Spock. Or have him regret anything tomorrow.

There was also so many answers he could give to that rather open ended offer... But in the end,]
Kind of ya to say. How 'bout we start with chess, see how it goes from that. I have been able to practice a bit with Chekov now 'nd then, so I at least ain't as rusty as I could be.

Yes! Chess! I believe that to be ideal. [His drink sloshes a bit onto his hand as he stands up. It's ignored as he grabs onto Remy's sleeve to hoist him up and start leading him over toward the chess boards. One is vacant but not set up. Spock plunks into a seat and stares at the pieces for a long moment before reaching for a pawn.]

My spacial skills are...compromised. I may need assistance.

[Remy had reached out a hand as he saw Spock struggle, ready to offer it to steady him when it was grabbed and tugged along. He bit down on the insides of his lips to keep his smile in check, stop it from becoming that full grin as he let Spock drag him across the room, making sure to pick up his own drink, and managing to hook a finger around a bottle as they by passed it. Was only fair he try and get a few more drinks into himself, plus it would be more fun that way.

Taking the opposite seat, Remy finished off his original drink in a long swallow before opening that new bottle and pouring himself a fresh glass. He raised his gaze again as Spock spoke, shooting a friendly smile over to him as he recapped the bottle and put it down.]
I think I can do that for us both, mon ami, but for a price. How 'bout a story from ya time at Star Fleet, something to had happened on the Enterprise with ya'll.

[personal profile] logicabounds 2019-04-23 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock doesn't know how his glass gets filled but it is. Someone must have that job on Jim's command. He leans backward into his chair, thinking about a story to barter for assistance. He's sure that Jim has told Remy most of the big ones so he'll have to think to one of the smaller missions. Something a human would find amusing.]

I almost had Jim cited for cheating on my test. Did he tell you about that?

[personal profile] cajunspice 2019-04-24 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Honestly, between Jim and... well, Jim, Remy's not surprised if one or the other, or BOTH, would be doing that to Spock. And Remy won't lie, it's amusing to see him drunk, but he does feel a little bad that the twin terrors are doing this to him. Then again, Spock knows them well by now, is he really surprised?]

Considerin' he likes to tell stories that makes him the shinin' star of the plot, no, he didn't. 'nd 'd love to hear. [A happy smile as he reached out for the chess pieces, resetting them in their proper positions.]

[personal profile] logicabounds 2019-04-24 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock smiles at that, just slightly but much larger than he otherwise would. He sips on his drink and recalls the memory, feeling a smug sense of power, knowing he has stories Jim himself would not share. It's a refreshing reversal of power. And considering how badly he was bested at chess, he enjoys it.]

There was a test I created. The point of it was to lose and face death. Jim did not agree with the lesson and uploaded a virus to adjust the parameters so he could succeed.

I reported him and brought him to the Starfleet faculty for cheating, in front of his peers.

[His smile spreads a little.]

He did not appreciate it.

[That. That made Remy freeze, stopping in his process of setting up the board and silencing his tongue.

Then laughing.]
Oh, yeah, I can totally see that happenin', mon Dieu. [Jim did not like being told he can't win, so being given a situation where there was no 'winning'... yeah, he would bend the rules.

Then again, rules were meant to be broken.]
That a hundred percent sounds like Jim. 'nd ya. [Hey, Remy can get it from Spock's side of it as well, he was doing the right thing, the logical thing, following protocol.]

Thing be, I would had done that too. Not just to mess with the system, but to think outside the box. What 've been trained to do, find a solution to a problem, even if it may be cheatin'.

He is a genius.

[Spock says it with a wave of his hand because it's just a fact, not hyperbole. It's also the bane of his life.]

I was unaware he would be so...adamant about winning. But now I would have real-

[Spock paused in the middle of the sentence, his whole face scrunched in thought for a second. A second later, he's practically grinning with the tiny smile on his face and the light look in his eyes.]

Adamant! [He slurs on the word but manages.] My inebrit-tation is reducing! I had difficulty with that, earlier!

[personal profile] cajunspice 2019-05-04 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Remy was aware of that, even if Jim didn't play it up most of the time. Something he also understood. It was better to be underestimated, you got away with more. Then again, you didn't make Captain by being an idiot.]

Careful, don't let him hear that, he doesn't need the 'ncouragement. [You are not one to talk, Remy.

A little surprised at the sudden pause from Spock, Remy grinned as he started speaking again, a laugh to go along with it as he finished with the board and sat back in his seat.]
Then I would say ya need 'nother drink to keep it goin', be a party after all.

[Spock nods a little, understanding by now how this goes. He sips at his drink and it likely won't be too long before he's fully inebriated again. Somewhere buried deep inside him he has to admit that it is easier to be social, this way. Still doesn't mean it would ever be his pick of an activity.]

Ready to play?

[personal profile] cajunspice 2019-05-07 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
That I be. What side ya want? [Honestly, it didn't matter to Remy. He was sure he was going to lose no matter if Spock started first or went second. Not that it means Remy wasn't going to try his best to win, or at the very least, give Spock a run for his money and try and throw some rather strange and unusual plays into his game.]
