[A - Broadcast]

[The grinning face taking up most of the monitor will be familiar to many a member of the fleet, but something is definitely... Different. The excited expression? Normal Lance. The red, angular marks on his cheeks, the small marking on his nose, and the scar by his left eye? Not exactly things one would normally see on the red paladin. In addition, adorned on top of his hair are large, fluffy catlike ears.

Have a catboy Lance.]

Oh my god. Okay, the merman thing was a ton of fun way back when I got glitched with that, but this? This is beyond sweet! I'm my fricken' Monsters and Mana character! I'm Pike! I mean, I'm Lance, but I look like how I made Pike!

[These words will make sense to absolutely zero people on the fleet, currently.

He laughs, and his ears wiggle.]

And look, I even have a tail! [He stands back, proudly showing off a long, fluffy brown tail.] How cool is this? Your local dashing red paladin is now your local dashing feline rogue, master thief, supreme treasure hunter. Right, I've gotta go see what I'm capable of now!

[A wave to the camera, and he shuts it off.]


[B - Huntress & Iskaulit]

[Apparently, Lance's time on the last system had been good for him when it came to recovering from the hurts of losing several friends and calibrations as a whole. He'd already been in a much better mood, especially after he and Keith's date weekend, but now? It's like he's completely back to his old self and then some. Excitement tends to do that.

Those on his ship can spot him flitting through the halls, sitting in the kitchen experimenting with different flavors to see if his tastes have changed, and overall just being a bit of a hyperactive catboy.

He keeps up his usual trips to the Iskaulit, though, still doing his typical wanderings and routines. Walking, eating at the Melting Pot, grabbing a drink at the bar, swimming (thank god the catlike stuff didn't give him an aversion to water), and of course, training. He's put some of his usual training on hold, however, instead testing his new heightened reflexes in the obstacle course and in the training room.

Yeah, he's having a ball.]

So... Monsters and Mana... that was that game you guys told me about, right?

[Lance eagerly nods. For now, the pain of his friends being gone is more muted, and he can talk about this without feeling sad.]

It was! We all played it, trying to relax a little when things got too crazy. Coran roped us all into it. I decided to make a rogue, and thought hey, why not make him a catboy? And, well.

[He gestures to himself.]

[Keith smiled a bit.]

Sounds like it was fun.

[Sometimes, it bothered Keith to know he missed out on so much with the team, but he kept that to himself.]

Maybe... if we find it, we can play it sometime.

[the_tailor]

Yeah, it was. And if we do find it, I'd love to play it with you.

[He smiles back.]

So, uh. What do you think?

[And he gestures to himself.]

[Keith chuckled.]

You look like an anime character.

[He came closer.]

So... these work, huh?

[He reached up to tweak one of the ears.]

You'd know, you big nerd.

[He grins, then gives a little surprised squeak when Keith suddenly tweaks an ear.]

Hey, careful with the goods! Yeah, they work. Kinda weird having my ears on the top of my head instead of the side.

And you're not?

[Keith chuckled a little at the reaction, and then gently rubbed the ear between his fingers like he would with a cat.]

I imagine it is. You can probably locate sounds really well like this.

obstacle course

[Really, it didn't take much in the way of detective work to figure out Lance would be hitting up the obstacle course sooner or later. And because he probably wouldn't get many more opportunities like this, naturally this little shit Pete was waiting for him. In full costume, if only because even with the whole "secret identity" thing officially blown, he still appreciated the theatrical side of things. Which was probably why he was lowering himself from the ceiling via webline as soon as Lance came in, clearly used to having conversations while dangling upside down.]

Hey, quick question: You going by Lance or Pike 'til this things runs its course? And, a follow-up: How many Hello Kitty jokes can I get away with?

[This. This flippant nonsense right here is why there's so many people who wanna beat him senseless back home. This is what a costume does to someone. Well, that, and deliberate character acting.]

[Lance isn't surprised to see that the obstacle course is occupied, though seeing his costumed buddy descending upside down from the ceiling on a web is something he isn't exactly used to. Even so, he gives a grin and a wave.]

Eh, I'm just gonna stick with Lance. Way too confusing otherwise. And... [He taps his chin.] You get five, but they have to be good ones. And if I ever see a pink bow in my hair, I'm grabbing that costume and throwing it in the wash with some bleach or something to make it pink.

[Pause.]

Sort of. I mean, that's how I made my character in the game we were playing. And since I've pretty much transformed into him, that'd mean that's me now!

So this is not a disease? Or some kind of ailment?

No, not at all! You've been here a long time, you must've seen people glitch here. Magically transform to be younger, or animals, or random other things.

[He fondly remembers his time being a merman.]

Certainly. I did it for a while but I've never seen anyone take on the visage of an animal.

[Rose watches the broadcast, with the most incredulous look on her face that she can manage. Her arms are crossed, and she does not look happy.]

"Monsters and Mana." I have no idea what that is, but you do know that Miqo'te have ears and tails naturally, correct?

And I fail to understand how having a tail now makes you a treasure hunter.

[He has no idea why she doesn't look happy!]

It's a game. A tabletop roleplaying game, where you get to make characters and play them and do battle and lots of fun stuff. And... Miqo'te? Um, is that what you are?

[C'mon, give a guy a break.]

The tail doesn't make me one. It just makes me whatever fictional race in the game that I can't remember the name of. I'm a treasure hunter because I designed my character to be one!

Cats are actually the one animal that a werewolf never has any trouble with. Cats simply do not mind us at all. Besides, I am very partial to this suit and would hate to wrinkle it with a chase.

[The fact that Lance is part feline doesn't phase Hux. He's gotten used to seeing such strange things happening onboard the Fleet. However, the mention of the game held Hux's attention.]

What's Monsters and Mana?

Well, ever hear of Dungeons & Dragons? The tabletop roleplaying game? It's basically like a holographic super fancy version of it. You make characters and assign roles and stats, then the dungeon master or game master or whatever takes you through an adventure. You get to roleplay and fight battles and all sorts of neat stuff!
