[He's afraid he's taken up too much time in the VR shoot'em'up when he emerges and finds himself alone. Not that he expected Kaname to stand around and wait for him. But when she's isn't immediately visible, he feels guilty.

Until he hears the thump of a dance machine over the cacophony of arcade noise and finds her drawing a bit of crow. Not even surprised. He gave up on these types of games when he realized he had two left feet. He finds a spot with a clear view and watches, proud and grinning. That's his girlfriend killing it.]

[It's not long after he stops to watch that the current song ends, Kaname beating her opponent with ease. They exchange pleasantries, and she looks around to see if he's still immersed in his own game. Realizing he's not anymore, she excuses herself and moves to join him.]

Hey, I hope you weren't waiting long. Are you finished already?

Nah. I don't mind waiting though. You looked good!

[He leans in for a quick peck on the cheek.]

Oh! Did you see the pinball machines?

Thanks. I'm surprised how fun it was.

[Kaname laughs, reaching over for his hand.]

No, I didn't. I bet you're going to show me now, huh?

Is that okay? 'Cause there's one that looks a lot like Justice Monsters V, and I really want to give it whirl.

[He's got her hand now, no escape. He's heading for that machine.]

Why wouldn't it be? You've been having so much fun so far, there's no reason to stop now.

[Over at the machine, Kaname's wondering how she missed this... audacious display of a game. Brightly flashing colorful lights, loud dings and whistles, it's likely enough to give someone a headache if they look at it straight on for too long. She blinks, clearing her vision to glance at him.]

Wow. You want to start, and I'll grab us some drinks across the street?

Uh, you sure?

[The token slips in before he can stop it, however, making his decision for him (it would be a shame to waste the token). The machine jingles loudly and announces that it's ready.]

If you want. I'll be right here!

[He ignores the game a moment longer to lean in for a kiss.]

Something with caffeine, if you can?

I'll keep my eye out for you. [He does get the kiss-- a quick one, so he can focus on the game. Kaname chuckles and lightly bumps his shoulder with her own in a gesture of affection.]

Kick some monster butt if that's how this works. [And then she's off across the street. Maybe about fifteen (or so) minutes later she comes back with two drinks in hand.]

[He really hasn't moved, though when she returns he's working the controls to get his initials (PAR) onto the leaderboard. Third place. Not bad!

He'd give it another go, but he spots Kaname.]

Check it out! Bet I can get it up to first before we leave the system.

Whoa, that's pretty good. [She assumes. She really has no idea how difficult this stuff is, but he's happy, and that's all that matters.] Were you going to try now?

[After a drink break of course. She holds it out for him.]

Nah. There's still time.

[He'll definitely be back to challenge more high scores later. It made him a little nostalgic for those days when he and Noctis would hide away in the arcade back home, dodging responsibility for as long as they could.

He takes the offered drink.]

[The answer has her smile a little with a nod. She does appreciate his thought of her despite his enthusiasm for their current location.]

Can you find one we can play together? I want to try something like that.

Hmm. [He thinks a moment, eyes roaming the arcade.]

There's a cooperative RPG? You have to fight a dragon at the end of the dungeon.

[Something that was more fun before he had to actually fight monsters at the ends of dungeons.]

I think I spied a zombie shooter, too.

The dragon sounds better. [The zombie shooter might border too closely to the Var, depending on the type. She'll play it safe and not go that route.]

[Since he's the expert at this, a little flattery is in order.]

[He laughs at the knight comment, and leads her to a VR booth designed specifically for two or more players.

He helps her get set up before logging on himself. There's an option to customize their character straight off - he could spend hours on that alone - but he chooses one at random: A spindly, tall elf-looking thing armed with double daggers and a bow and arrow.]
