[Maybe Connor shouldn't be surprised by this. He's gotten a pretty good sense of Lup after these past few months, after all. Still, the last thing he was expecting as he was waiting for the next train was to see the elf come rolling off the top and bouncing onto the platform nearby. It sends up a heap of red flags in his systems, ranging from law-breaking to personal safety concerns. He can ignore the former, but the latter is still... kind of a problem.

He decides he can wait for the next train, and steps up behind Lup instead.]

Just how many stops did you pass before you got off here?

[His voice catches her off guard, and she wobbles around to spot him and offers up a two-fingered salute.]

Eyyyy, Connor! I dunno, four or five, maybe? I wasn't counting.

[She shows absolutely zero shame in being caught in the act.]

[She's lucky that his faint disapproval isn't that different from his usual expression. Less lucky is that the last time they spoke, she had been cooking while drunk, so it's two-for-two on dubious acts now.]

Well, given the speed the train runs at I'm not surprised you lost count.

Yeah, see? Anyway, it isn't that much of a thrill ride if you're too busy paying attention to the technicalities. My stop is whenever my legs start to turn to gelatin.

What, you think they'll try to arrest me for having fun? I didn't see any signs or rules about no fun.

[There are in fact many signs about traveling safely and staying within the guard rails or inside the train cars while it's in motion, all of which she is pointedly ignoring.]

[The signs aren't hard to miss. Unless you're deliberately doing so, which Connor suspects Lup is.]

I'm sure it wouldn't progress to an arrest, though. I would intervene first.

Ooh, you can charm me out of jail time, buddy? I'd kind of like to see that, actually.

[If nothing else it'd make for an interesting show.]

But I would certainly try to mitigate the situation, if it came to that.

[She still doesn't look especially worried about the fun police chafing her cool, but she does at last manage to stabilize herself.]

Okay, Gumshoe, what's your recommended escape route? Because if they try and drag me to jail I will definitely set something on fire.

[Connor immediately points to the secondary exit of the station, off to their left.]

This way. The other exit point is larger and has security staff present, since it opens onto the main street.

[And then despite her phrasing she forges on ahead, right for the path he'd pointed out. She can afford to take a nice little break before she goes on her next thrill ride, so this is fine.]

So what're you up to? Besides acting as the local safety sergeant.

[Why this. Connor stares at Lup's back in bafflement for a moment before stepping up his pace to walk next to her. As far as he can tell, security hasn't really noticed her actions just yet, so they'll likely make it out of the station unimpeded.]

I've commissioned a weapon, but otherwise I've been learning about as much of the local culture as I can.

I don't think I've ever seen you armed before. What kind of weapon are you after?

I have a hunting knife I found on the Iskaulit. My main proficiency is in firearms though, so I've put an order in for a rifle.

[He has access to the weaponry on the Fleet ships, but those are of uncertain provenance. It's better to have his own.]

The people here are a lot more strict about who they sell guns to than they are about their bladed weapons.

Yeah, I noticed. Monsters tried to confiscate my glove already, so I opted to ditch the mall instead.

[She can find her fun elsewhere and stay armed, thank you very much. Shopping can wait.]

A rifle sounds useful. Never tried it myself, but they look cool.
