There are little reasons to create conspiracy theories when everything is available. Information, food, luxuries. We no longer have monetary-based systems anymore.

Where is it you're from?

My parents were from Earth but I grew up on the planet Vulcan.

[oratorical]

Earth I've heard of.

[There's a lot of people from there here, after all; it'd be bizarre if she hadn't heard of it by now.]

Vulcan, on the other hand, is a new one.

It is a desert planet and one of the founding planets in the Federation — a united coalition meant to foster peace and harmony.

[oratorical]

The sort of organization my own galaxy needs.

[The sort she's hoping they'll have the chance to build once the Empire is gone. If the Empire is ever gone.]

I don't have much experience with desert planets, personally. My own home was nearly as opposite as you can get while still being habitable for humans.

I have no doubt that it's possible everywhere.

[ it is a lot of work, but possible. always. ]

What was your world like?

[oratorical]

I'd hope so.

[It's one of the only hopes she has to cling to at the moment back home anyway.]

Most of it was mountainous, usually cooler where I lived. The whole planet wasn't cold, but the most populated areas were.

Alderaan. I don't know that you'd know of it, however.

I'm afraid not, but I enjoy learning about new planets and worlds.

[She smiles, slightly, at that. She can understand that feeling pretty well.]

Then you must be enjoying at least the travel part of being on board the Fleet.

I am. I enjoy any and all opportunity to explore, though I understand that our circumstances could be better.

Still, I want to make the most of it.

[She nods, understanding that view. They have to look at the positives of being here, however small they may be.]

So aside from conspiracy theorists, what are your thoughts on this system?

[ michael only needs a moment. parsing and delivering information is a vulcan trait after all. ]

It is pleasant. I'm impressed with its coalition and leadership. It reminds me of waystations, planets located near other systems for favourable trade routes.

[oratorical]

It is more advanced, seemingly, than the other planets we've visited since I've been on board.

[The underground construction requires a strong leadership and advanced technology to implement to this extent. It's something more like what she's used to in her own galaxy.]

The wildlife, too, is a refreshing sight after being confined to a ship for so long, I think.

Certainly. Even though I spend a great deal of time on ships, it will never be superior to having grass under your feet or a sky over your head.
