[ Oh look, it's the SS Starduck lab! Looks like the resident nerd alchemist has another announcement/offer to make. ]

The technology on this planet is amazing, and I'm finding that a lot of it lines up really well with alchemy! So, I've been doing some research of my own [ to put it lightly ] and found ways to recreate a lot of the items and weapons-enhancements that I regularly made for my friends and colleagues back home!

So, well, I wanted to offer my services here, too! If you have an idea for something really cool you want a weapon to do, as long as you help me get the materials for the synthesis, I'll gladly make it for you!

If you want some examples, Let's see... [ She looks up at the ceiling and ticks off on her fingers as she recalls. ] I've made fire swords, elemental armor-piercing bullets for guns, staves that glow all sorts of colors, bombs with different effects, earrings that help channel magic...

So, um, things like that! And if you have something in mind, I'd love to talk about it and figure it out together! You can send me a message, or just come find me on the Starduck!


[ Planetside - gathering materials ]
[ True to her word, Escha is absolutely willing to modify your weapon (or armor, or other item, really) however you want it! All that's needed are the right materials, and that involves a little bit of field gathering... and some monster hunting. She's got her staff in hand, plenty of magical items and bombs in her bag, and some healing salves if things get rough. She's ready to go!

Are you here with her to help gather for your order? Awesome! She turns to you and nods once. ] Okay! This shouldn't be too hard, I don't think...

[ OR! Have you run into her while she's gathering for someone else? Well then, you'll see a pink-haired girl hurling an adorable little snowman toy-looking-thing at a rather large wolf-like beast... and it EXPLODES into a jagged chunk of serrated ice, freezing the beast in place before shattering and, obviously, damaging it pretty well. Care to jump in the fight? ]


[ SS Starduck - Nerd Talk! ]
[ You're more than welcome to come hang out in the atelier lab of the SS Starduck, whether it's to plan your order together, to pick up your item/order after it's done, or just to come see how she does what she does. She loves company! Careful though, ask the right (wrong?) questions and she might nerd-talk your ear off~ Or she might start asking you call kinds of questions about your world! ]

[The thing about insomnia is that it seems to be a theme on the Starduck — one that continues even past his last conversation on the topic. He supposes it is their normal; Escha and he don't seem to keep regular hours, and Connor doesn't sleep. Sometimes when their irregular hours have converged, Escha has joined him in the corner of the cargo bay that's been turned into a gym. Tonight isn't one of those nights though; his abuse of the heavy bag bears no witness.

That's fine; it's not like he has a standing appointment with anyone but himself.

He does swing by Escha's lab on his way back to his quarters though, just to see if she's up. She is — and looks to be hard at work too. He leans in the doorway for a moment or two of observation before speaking.]

Can't sleep? [It's become a common enough greeting between them these days.]

[ Escha's been working on all sorts of projects, but somehow she's managed to start going double-time lately - ever since the meeting with the Interceptors, specifically. Nothing like a sudden sense of urgency to drive up production and make sleep even more elusive...

She's so deep in testing ingredients and taking notes that she doesn't even hear Bucky him arrive. It's a miracle she doesn't jump when she hears his voice! She does smile sheepishly, though. ]

Oh! Um... Yeah. Not really. I guess I got wrapped up in all of this, and then just... didn't stop.

[ She gestures vaguely to uhhh, everything surrounding her. The lab is a little bit messy, but it's the kind of chaos that seems intentional - as though she could still tell you exactly where everything is at any given moment. There's something brewing in the cauldron, and a few other smaller-scale reactions in flasks on the counters. ]

I wasn't being too loud, was I?

[ She's pretty sure she knows the answer to that, but still. ]

[The answer doesn’t really surprise him; there has been a lot to think about since the meeting, even if he hadn’t been very vocal at it himself. The fact that she’d made her offer to the Fleet is only natural, and it seems like people are taking her up on it. Good. They can use every advantage they can get.

He does make a promise to keep an eye out to make sure she’s not exhausting herself needlessly though.

He shakes his head to her question, follows it up with a verbal confirmation a moment later.]

You weren’t. I think I was being louder, actually.

[That being a relative term of course. Still he doesn’t bother hide the interest in his expression at everything she’s got going on. It all seems rather complex, but she seems perfectly at home in the middle of it.]

Need a hand? Or two?

[ She smiles, relieved that she hasn't been causing too much noise. And she thinks, just for a second, that it's a wonder the punching bag doesn't need any repairs, considering how much it's been used - especially lately. But anyway-- ]

Well um, if you don't mind... [ She points to one of the smaller sets on the counters. ] Could you watch that one while I take care of one of these other ones? It shouldn't do anything too weird, but if it starts forming ice crystals, you just have to add a few drops of water to it and it'll calm down again.

I probably should have done these one at a time, but I guess I got a little too ambitious. [ Oops? ]

[Maybe he's been sneaking fresh punching bags out of the gym on the Iskaulit when no one's looking...]

Wouldn't have offered if I minded. [That's the thing about their crew though: they might each be their own brand of loner, but they do all seem to work really well in together when they chose to do so. It's comfortable, as much as anything can be in a place like the Fleet. So he moves to the indicated potion — he thinks it's a potion at least and anyway that's as good a word for it as other — prepared to watch it closely as instructed.] Water if there's ice. I can manage that.

Can't possibly imagine too ambitious. [It's said gently though, and not meant at all as an insult. Doesn't he do much the same, in his own fashion?] If you need a lab assistant, I don't mind being one. As long as you can put up with someone who's never done anything like this and will need instruction.
