[With some math and a little bit of fudging, Shirley's more or less worked out that by this point she should have hit her sixteenth birthday. This is the first time she's actually had friends to celebrate it with, so she wastes no effort in decorating and preparing food for everyone she's invited. There's sandwiches, drinks, a couple of different baked goods...she may have spent a while on this and hogged the ship galley accordingly. But now it's party time, and there's ample room for everyone to eat and hang out!]

Maybe you can think of things to do with him once you're together again, then. Even if it takes a little while.

[ The more time passes, the better that Elize copes without being with Teepo. She's very unlike when she first arrived when she was all in tears. But it does make her sad whenever Teepo does cross her mind... ]

I- I was thinking of telling him all about the things I learned and all the friends I've met. I'll tell him about you, Shirley!

[OH...straight to the heart.]

That's...thank you, Elize. I hope you're able to meet with Teepo again soon.

[Preferably because Elize gets sent home through some means or other, not because Teepo gets stuck here too.]

Do you have any other friends aside from him, back where you come from?

Thank you. I hope so too.

[ Everyone reminds her to be strong and patient and she's trying. ]

Yes! [ At the mention of other friends, she's beaming once again. ] Jude, Milla, Rowen, Leia, Driselle...

[ ~~wait where's Alvin on that list~~ ]

[~~Alvin lied his way off, clearly.~~ Shirley's actually done something like this before, talking about her friends with Robin when she first arrived. Maybe it will help Elize to do the same?]

Can you tell me more about them? I'd love to hear about all your friends.

[ A pause as she begins swaying her arms nervously. There's a lot to say about them and she's not exactly the most talkative child. ]

I'm not sure where to start...

Why don't you just tell me about one of them first? Like...Jude, was it?

Jude...

[ A wide smile spreads across her face. ]

Teepo used to be my only friend, until Jude came along. He protected me from some really mean villagers.

He did? He sounds like a good person.

[Elize's smile says as much, too. Shirley already approves of Jude.]

How did the two of you meet?

He was passing through a village I used to stay in with his friends. There were some people in his way, so... Teepo and I helped him.

[ That's a really brief version of the story. ]

[Oh. With what she's just said...]

And were they mean to you because of it?

[ That tiny awkward smile fades from her as she thinks back on how much the villagers started to bully her. They did some good deeds for her, but she was further ostracized when the Rashugal soldiers arrived. ]

...Those people were soldiers searching for him. When they couldn't find my friends, they started harassing the people of Hamil. [ There's a slight tremble in her voice as she thinks back on that day. ]

Then the villagers blamed me.

That's terrible!

[Shirley's visibly troubled by that. Oh, Elize.]

And that's when Jude protected you?

[ She nods sullenly. ]

He let me travel with him and his friends after that. They won't bully me anymore!

Travel...for how long?

[That's new to her. It's not as if Hattie hasn't ventured out with everyone before, but it is unusual. Although perhaps her world doesn't have the same monster problems the Legacy does.]

[ A thoughtful pause, tilting her head slightly as she tries to make a rough estimate. ]

For about three months now, I think.

Three months? That's a long time! And you didn't get tired?

It's tiring sometimes. [ A lot of getting into danger too. ] But I like being with them.

Well, as long as you're happy with them...that's good. I hope you're taking care of yourself, too.

I am! I can fight just as well as everyone else.

[Well, news to her!]

[Not that she really progressed until recently but hey, in another life where she wasn't sheltered...]
