If At First You Don't Succeed... Try, Try Again

Who: Vanyel & Anyone
Broadcast: nope
Action: The Casino-way station
When: During the time the planet is in range

[ At first a quiet hallway in one of the casino waystations is just that - a hallway, with a few doors dotted here and there leading into some shop or restaurant or another. Except wasn’t one of them beginning to glow? Yes, yes it was. The edges took on a definite white-blue light, flaring brightly before giving way to a panorama of what could only be a landscape of the planet below.

A figure comes through, dark hair looking disheveled, mud and plant life smeared across a dark-blue shirt, snowy white boots marred by dark streaks. The human shape sunk down to its knees, clearly breathing hard, breath rattling in his chest - and it is a he. Behind him, the visage of the planet faded, the “doors” closing with a fading light. The man clutched at his chest, hunching over in pain.

Slowly he sat up, revealing his face to be that of one of Vanyel Ashkevron, albeit streaked with sweat and a little pale. He looked around, blinking owlishly, seeming to recognize where he was. The thinest of smiles worked across his lips, almost triumphant. ]

Well… that went better than I had hoped…

[he perks up at the offer of something to do.]

Sure, yeah, I can do that. [He realizes what Vanyel had called him and grins] 'Good company', huh? You're a flatterer.

[He leans back, kicking out his legs and crossing them at the ankles-- it's a forced sort of relaxed posture, but it works for him nonetheless]

Hey, what are cops for, right? Helping out the man on the street.

Yeah? What would I have to do if I was a sheriff in those places?

I'm not really the grand kinda guy, so maybe I'd stick to sheriffing, huh? [It's a lie of the most honest kind: because despite the citations for bravery, despite all the things he's done with Fraser, he still doesn't see himself as brave, or good, and certainly not grand.]

So you're saying I'd kick ass, huh? Good to have some career options. [He's joking, but it's deflection more than anything: he's obviously pleased by Vanyel's compliments, but doesn't know how to react to them properly.]
poetontheinside: (catching on)

Good enough, sure. Didn't kick me off the force, at least. [He makes to stand up, sticking close to Vanyel in case he'd overestimated his own abilities.]

Nah, it's nothing. Bet being here for your dramatic entrance's gonna gain me a couple credits, I got it. [He's got his hands in his pockets, now, semi-casual, like he's not ready to catch Vanyel at any moment.]
poetontheinside: (pretty happy myself)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-01 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Like to see what you would call dramatic, then.

Oh, yeah, that oughta do it. [He grins, and then opens the door to one of the one-person pods.] You gonna be okay going home?

Anytime, buddy. [The little squeeze has left him smiling, satisfied that his friend is doing better and that he was able to help out.]

See you around.
