[ This place is more dreary than he'd like, but it also has a lot of useful cooking things and Chris isn't going to pass up the chance to stock up. Although there aren't too many fruits, there's roots and veggies and, of course, plenty of meats in all sorts. While he's there, Chris is also looking into any sort of esoteric shops he can find to look for some more... eclectic ingredients for his own perusal. Mandragora root, maybe? Eye of newt? No?
With at least some products in hand, Chris wanders the moon for any familiar faces or odd ingredients and he's not really shy about either. ]

[ Next up is vanity. It's more than Chris expects and better than he could have hoped for. After wandering around for a while, he ends up in an open-air library that's absolutely gorgeous: trees to lounge under, piles of soft cushions to nest inside or appropriate for other seats, tables of smooth, hewn stone where the studious can fill their minds. Best of all are the walls made of tall bookshelves two stories high with gaps large enough not to block the air or sun.
Chris himself is laying propped up against one of the more modest trees with a pile of books next to him. He's obviously skimming for the best thing to spend his time on, an obviously relaxed pose contradicting his usual state of always tense or lost in thought. ]

Gah! [nearly jumps when she realizes that there's someone laying down there.] --Oh, dude! I didn't even see you...

I'm kind of on the ground right now... and you're walking blind. Got enough there?
no subject
Hah, no way. I wish I had, like, six arms. [...a pause...] For the books, not just for some weird reason.
no subject
There's gotta be carts or something to carry those around in. You gonna read them all today?
no subject
[she looks down, finally noting Chris' own pile of books... and immediately kneeling down to look nosily at all the titles.]
What'cha reading about?
no subject
[ Ugh. He just kind of eyes her for messing with his pile, he has that organized okay. ]
There's a lot of interesting stuff no matter what you're looking at. When you're talking about a place with space travel, they've pretty much gone past everything you knew and into totally different places.

[she runs her fingers over a couple of titles, but thankfully doesn't go pulling things out of order... yet...]
I can't say I was ever a big into math and science and stuff like that, but I'm pretty impressed by how impossible all the tech is around here... so it'd make sense that the books are the same way... I'm sticking to fiction, myself.
no subject
[ Now he's just thinking out loud. They have to do something because those ships are way too plain. ]
Yeah... I'm not so good at it either, but they've got some for dummys books, too. Thought I might as well get the idea, you know?
no subject
[nodding.] Oh yeah, nothing bad about that. Might really come in handy one day, actually.
no subject
Exactly. [ Even when he's relaxing, Chris is doing something constructive. Boy... c'mon. ] There's some more light reading in there, too.
no subject
Okay, wait, hang on. This is a really good idea. I need to make some notes.
[she produces a pen from SOMEWHERE and plops down right where she was standing, starting to scribble things down...]
no subject
[ Because the idea seems pretty simple to him. As long as she doesn't try for an open-air library on a spaceship or anything like that... ]
no subject
[don't underestimate her brainstorming ability, Chris.]
no subject
We've got time for that, don't we? The whole month. You're gonna do it all right now?
no subject
no subject
Okay. Should I leave you to it...?
no subject
[she scribbles down something else. and then looks back up again.]
I lied. Like twenty minutes. Read your book, Chris.
no subject
Let me know if I can help with anything.
no subject
[nose in book--go.]
no subject
You did not just call me a nerd.
no subject
Might have called you a nerd.
no subject
Say what?
no subject
[that one was audible, at least!]
