Spirit!

Most days, the Spirit libraries were quiet. Stefan finds himself a position as a librarian relatively quickly, and he's shelving books right as he catches sight of a familiar face.

“Maglor?” He murmurs, all but failing to hide the surprise on his face. Once or twice might've been coincidence, but three times is fate - and in the deepest of his hearts, he knows that there's a Reason they keep running into each other.

"Stefan!" Maglor looks up at the voice and smiles to recognise him.

"You seem very at home here - I am assuming the faction claimed you?"

[stefanged]

"More like I claimed them, but yeah." He can't quite help returning the smile. Like Uncle Arnold, Maglor knows how to brighten Stefan's day without even trying. "Need help looking for something?"

[bythewaves]

"A scholar, then?" Maglor's smile is approving.

"Mm, not in particular - there is just so much here! But if you can point me to some good histories and language treatises I will be grateful."

[stefanged]

"I can point you to general history and treatises, but you'll need to be a member of Spirit for anything specific."

He rubs the back of his neck in apology. Stefan would've offered access via his librarian privileges, but his friends have already claimed that great honor. As it is, he can't check out anything more without looking suspicious.

Stefan gets a sheepish shrug at that. "It... well. Apparently I am? I did not realise, but... I seem to have been... co-opted...."

[stefanged]

He can't help his laughter - it's so loud and unlike Stefan that he's struggling to keep it muffled with his hands. Y'Allah, of course! If there was any doubt in his mind that Maglor and his uncle shared the same soul, it's gone now.

"Of course you would've been," Stefan says, shaking his head with amusement. "I don't know why I even asked."

Maglor ducks, shyly embarrassed.

"I... well. It seemed foolish to refuse, if it granted me access here."

[stefanged]

"Also, you get the best discounts on tea and baking supplies," Stefan admits, without a hint of shame in his voice as he turns towards the history section and motions for Maglor to follow him. "If you haven't checked the markets out, you should definitely drop by."

[bythewaves]

"Ah now, is that so?" Maglor brightens at the thought. "I wonder if they have the ingredients for honeycakes... it has been a long time but... and a good cup of tea would not go amiss."

[stefanged]

"Honeycakes?" Stefan tilts his head thoughtfully. "Maybe they'll have them at the markets. I wouldn't know, honestly. I don't think I've heard of them before."

[bythewaves]

"They were my mother's recipe - she was not a terribly good cook, but she could bake, and honeycakes and berry tarts were her speciality." Maglor says wistfully. "I could bake some for you to try, if I can find the ingredients."

[stefanged]

"Well, once we grab your books, I can take a break. We could always swing by the markets and see if they're available."

If not, Stefan supposes that Moxie or Savvy might have them. It would only be a matter of time (and a matter of properly blending in, if he so chose).

[bythewaves]

"Then I will let you sample them, eh? And hope I have not forgotten how." Maglor smiles back. "But what of your own work? Will they mind overly if you leave?"

[stefanged]

"I get breaks. They're not very long, but I can leave long enough to help you look for things."

Even if he has to rush back with his super-speed, it'll be worth it.

[bythewaves]

"Only if you are sure! I do not wish to get you into trouble."

[stefanged]

"You wouldn't." Stefan's voice is firm yet gentle, not unlike what he remembers his uncle using on him. "I wouldn't have offered if I didn't think I could handle it."

[bythewaves]

"Then once we get the books, we will see about some shopping." Maglor accepts with grace.

"I just do not wish for you to come to trouble on my account!"

[stefanged]

Stefan shakes his head. "I appreciate that. We're just about here, anyway. You'll want the books on the top shelf."

The whole section's free to peruse, but honestly - he has a rough idea of what Maglor would want, and those books would align best with those (assumed) ideals.

[bythewaves]

"Thank you." Maglor smiles at him and nods, reaching up for the top shelf books and quickly picking a few that seem to be what he is looking for.

"Then we had best be off swiftly!"
