Captain's Log 04 - Waking Dreams
Who: Jim Kirk & You
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Yes, on the Tourist
When: Now (that is, Friday)
[ It's a strange feeling, waking up and staring at a ceiling that he instinctively knows is on a ship. He hasn't looked at one of those in awhile, mostly because his ship was still being built. He had been able to tour some parts of her, but she was far from complete, and certainly nowhere near ready for him to move into. So why? Why was there something familiar about this ceiling? He had seen it before, he was sure, nagging at the back of his mind -
The Fleet.
It struck him like a slap, making him gasp, and he sat up sharply, looking down at himself, wrapped in his survival suit of all things. He touched the raised silver crest of Star Fleet, trying to wrap his mind around the notion he was back on the Tourist. How long had it been? Almost three years? He had just celebrated his birthday, so, yes, three years...
Looking around he located the communicator, flipping it open, remembering the motions easily enough as he keyed up the video and looked in. It's to late by the time he realizes that he has a crown settled into his somewhat fluffier hair and a bright red lipstick mark on his cheek. Who-? Well, whatever, everyone will just get to see him attempt to rub the lipstick off as he speaks, crown, for the moment, remaining where it was. ]
Uh - hello everyone. I'm not sure how much time as passed here, so I suppose I should start with introductions. My name is Captain James Tiberius Kirk, U.S.S. Enterprise, though feel free to call me Jim. I was here once before, but I suppose at some point I got sent home.
It's been three years for me. So, if possible, I wouldn't mind a roll call of who all is here - and exactly how much time has passed for you all.
Kirk, out.
[ He turns off the communicator and gets up slowly, stretching, making his way for the kitchen and wondering if that cantankerous coffee machine was still here and functioning, and if it had been tamed. He hoped so. He desperately needed coffee. Maybe something more too. Yes, definitely something more.
Irish coffee it was Or as close as he could get it. ]

Irish coffee it was Or as close as he could get it. ]
Action
He glances up as Kirk enters and the relief is evident in him. ]
Good. You're awake.
Action
He laughs softly when he spotted him and Fenris looks clearly relieved that he is up, even if he is moving stiffly, getting muscles to warm up after two weeks without proper use. At least physically, though mentally he knows different. ]
Feels good to be awake. I'm worried if I had stayed asleep any longer I would have grown cobwebs.
Action
I am sure someone would have come around to dust them off you.
I take it you went home?
Action
Yes. For three years. I'm thirty now, can you believe it?
Action
I suppose?
[Look, humans age differently to elves. ]
Three years is quite some time to be away.
Re: Action
It feels like it now, but not at the time. It all went by so fast - especially the last part of the year.
[ He shook his head. ]
I guess I didn't miss to much here, though. Can't say if I'm happy about that or not.
Action
[There;s genuine concern in his voice. ]
I would be glad of it. When something does happen here, it's usually disastrous.
Action
[ Who needs sad stories right now? No one! ]
True enough. I see we haven't moved from the star system yet either.
[ He looked around briefly and back to Fenris. ]
Where are your slugs?
Action
[Look, he'll even take the hint and not push. If Kirk doesn't want to talk, he won't make him. After all, the other man gives him the same consideration. ]
We haven't. And I killed and ate them.
[Or they're in his quarters. ]
Re: Action
[ Eventually, he would. If Fenris really wanted to here. He though that he might, but he wasn't yet sure. ]
Well that's a shame. I'll have to pick you up something else to cuddle planet side to replace them. You looked so nice with something fluffy on you.
[ He smirked at him, going to try and coax coffee out of the machine with little pets. ]
Action
It seems your time away has not dampened your sense of humour any.
Re: Action
[ He grinned broadly at the other. ]
Admit it - you would be disappointed it had, and you've actually missed me. Deep down, somewhere.
Action
Perhaps a little. Very minutely.
Re: Action
[ Good, because he missed you too. Or he thought he missed you. It was hard to remember what he missed in those three years, but he's sure you're one of them, Fenris. ]
I'll take it. Hopefully there's enough of it that you wouldn't mind getting a drink with me - for old time's sake. It has been three years for me, after all.
Action
You know, I think I can just about stretch myself to that.
[He'll even get a small smile. ]
Welcome back.
Re: Action
[ He'd blow you a kiss if he didn't think you'd throw hot coffee at him. ]
It's not so bad being back.
[ He does smile back warmly though, because he did mean it. ]
Action
Hm. And as you can see, the ship is still standing.
[He didn't burn it down or murder anyone or ANYTHING. ]
Re: Action
[ He really does know you so well, gosh. ]
I know. I am quite impressed. I knew I had the right man for the job.
[ Gold star for you, Fenris. ]
Action
Re: Action
Well, that's good. It's always a good day when your first mate's skills aren't needed.
I'll try not to be gone so long next time.
Action
Heh. Please do try to do so. Maker knows what will happen if Atroma sense any weakness.
Re: Action
Heh, if I do disappear, I'll be sure to bring you with me. You would be an excellent security officer on my ship.
Action
Re: Action
[ He laughed. ]
I have many more than one security officer and I am the captain, remember?
Action
You know, you're the second captain to offer me a position on board a ship of some kind.
