Who: IT'S A GAME MINGLE GET IN THE VAN
Broadcast: If you want!
Action: All of it!
When: Second half of the month.
[hey everyone! how's it been going? how's medieval-fun-time-world treating you? anyone pillaged and burned anything yet? got kicked out of the castle? been planning expeditions? registered for jousting? busy angsting for the last two weeks on your ship?
this is a mingle for everybody, whether they're hiding in the volcano, out and about in the city, or up on one of those random random stations where you can get quirky souvenirs.]

in town / outside the walls
[ Tay is having a good week. She's done enough weird jobs off the job board to afford a sword - not her sharp weapon of choice, but their battle-axes aren't in her price range - and she just got transferred to/made captain of a completely empty ship. Which is nice, because she's not used to having a bunch of space to herself unless she's living in her car, and what with everything going down and picking up Nate...
Well, she's glad for the space for however long it lasts, let's put it at that.
And she is absolutely not a little lonely all alone on that ship what would give you that insane idea? She totally loves it shut up.For now, she's mostly hanging out around the training yard practicing her sword work, and getting in a couple of spars with the locals (and not-so-locals). And, after everyone's finished up the fancier stuff, more than a few good-natured fistfights.
She could get used to this planet, definitely. ]
outside the walls
[ And then sometimes a girl just needs some wide open space to stretch her wings - literally, in Tay's case.
She's sitting on a hill, just out of sight of the walls, her wings out and spread to soak up the sunshine. They're easily a 20 foot span, and she seems like she's actually relaxed for once. ]
in town
you know, just. hanging out on the sidelines. observing like it's not weird.
sup.]

That's when she notices Zhas and shoots him a cocky grin ]
You want a go?

mostly because she looks a little stronger and faster than she should be. he's finally... he's met enough strange people with strange powers here to at least know that she's probably not evil as he would have once expected, but her subtle, unusual strength and speed still remind him of the monsters he used to fight back home.
so she'd be a good test. he wanders in closer, but... side-eyes the swords.
he's not actually trained in how to fight with a sword. he'd probably end up tossing it after a minute anyway. he doesn't seem all that anxious to go grab one.]
no subject
[ She shrugs a little and sheathes her sword, putting it off to the side, then spreads her hands. ]
We can grab something else. Or just go for it. Your call.
no subject
they could totally just brawl it out. he's down with that. better than both of them using stabby things anyway. even blunt stabby things. he's not good at not stabbing people.
so he'll quickly shuck off that big coat of his, throw it over towards all that practice equipment, and just... raise his hands up in loose fists. come on let's go he's so ready.]
no subject
Now really, tactically, she should give it a few seconds, see how he's holding himself, if he'll move first, etc.
But in reality, well... she's from a violent stubborn cocky family, and she herself is only a generation or two removed from their roots in Ireland.
She plows in with no tactics or subtlety whatsoever, shouting a wordless battle cry at the top of her lungs as she sends an elbow at his jaw. ]
no subject
instead, they've got a nice even start and he's more than prepped to dodge out of the way, dropping low, to kick her legs out from under her.]

The fight is fast and hard, both of them moving quickly and ignoring the injuries they start accumulating in favor of pushing forward. They gather no small crowd, either, because this kind of fight is something you want to see to believe.
Finally, at some point, one of them literally headbutts the other (Tay honestly can't remember who), and Tay has to stagger back from the sudden jolt of pain and dizziness from the impact. She seems to have gotten a large number of blossoming bruises and a couple of scrapes, as well as broken a finger and her nose. Her blood's lighter than it should be, and kind of iridescent on close examination, but it's harder to tell once she starts swiping it onto her sleeve, hissing when she makes contact with her nose
Hopefully the locals won't think too much of it... ]
Think it's a draw. What about you?
no subject
when he comes to past the stars and spots, he shakes his head--squinting to see. she's talking. they're done now? ...where did all of these people come from?
he... nods his head. his mouth tastes coppery. he's kind of glad the locals can't see his "face", since the little mouth marks must be all manner of smudged. she got him pretty good in the jaw, once. he slouches as the adrenaline starts to drop out of his system... and wanders back over to pick up his coat.]
in town
Still, occasionally he'll wander to the training yard to watch the others work, and is glad to recognise Tay there. He gives her a little wave, and goes to lean on a post to watch her train. ]
no subject
Clearly the way to get her to lighten up is to let her fight people. ]
Yo, Zorro! You wanna give it a go?
no subject
And no, I don't use swords unless I absolute have to. Life or death. Your form is good, though.
no subject
But today is apparently not that day. ]
Fair 'nuff, though you're gonna get outta practice if you do that.
[ She sheathes her sword, accepts a ladle of water from somebody with a bucket, then trots off the yard over to Manolo. She doesn't respond to the compliment directly, but... let's be real, it pleases her to hear, and she's not as good at hiding that as she'd like to think. ]
Swordwork isn't really my strong suit, but I probably should try to stay in practice, y'know? Never know when I might need it.
You enjoyin' the town?
no subject
I'll just have to take that chance.
[He nods, excited. ]
It's amazing! I've never seen anything like it. As a first trip away from home, it's pretty amazing. [Hsi smile drops, a fraction. ] I just wish we could help them, the people here, I mean. Being made to believe the world is something it isn't and being exploited for it.
no subject
[ Tay looks... not exactly upset or uncomfortable, but like something she doesn't quite like occurred to her. In some ways, she feels like her family is kind of the same way. She's just not sure if anyone is left doing the exploiting at this point.
She doesn't say anything, though, just rolls her shoulders a bit. ]
Hey, you want to get out of here? Out of the city, I mean. There's some nice views and shit, and a lot less noise, and you can't smell horse shit everywhere.
no subject
Sure, the only place I've been outside the city so far is the tomb. Everything else is brand new.
no subject
[ Tay grins a little and heads towards the nearest gate, trying to make sure she doesn't walk too fast - even for a guy Manolo's size, her long legs make her pretty damn hard to keep up with sometimes. ]
How was it, any interesting ghosts or monsters?
no subject
It's all fake. There's no real ghosts or monsters there.
no subject
[ She sighs deeply, then glances at him out of the corner of her eye ]
Soooo, what you wanted to see ghosts? Or were just hoping to see something cool and supernatural?
no subject
[He gives a shrug.]
She is a death god. It might not have worked, I don't know how far her reach goes, but it would have been nice to be able to give it a shot.
no subject
[ Wait, hold up ]
You're friends with a death god?
[ her estimation of how badass you are just like ROCKETED up, Manolo. ]
no subject
Her name is La Muerte. She and her husband decided to have a bet involving me and my best friends. It ended up being a big mess, but I was the one she chose to represent her in the bargain.
[He'd say he felt like a pawn, but La Muerte isn't like that. She seemed to genuinely care for his plight in a way Xibalba never did. Xibalba sees humanity as pawns, La Muerte...she at least tries to be different. ]
no subject
[ They reach the gate and Tay speeds up a little to trot through - she likes this planet because she fits in relatively well, but she always does like having space to stretch - both figuratively and literally ]
Okay, let's see, it was... this way, I think!
no subject
[Seriously. Fuck you, Xibalba. He nods, following. ]
