SS Golden Mingle!

Who: The crew of the SS Golden
Broadcast: Nope
Action: SS Golden
When: 6/10 to 6/30

[With the exciting lights and sounds of the casino behind them, things seem to have really wound down for the fleet. With very little to do outside of the ship, what better way to try and stave off cabin fever than by socializing with one's fellow crew members? Compare casino winnings, swap stories about anything the other mysterious planet they left behind, or maybe just stare out the window together at the passing space debris. The choice is yours!]

[The last month really had been pretty interesting to say the least, hadn't it? Megaman's still not entirely sure whether to qualify it as the good kind of interesting, in all honesty, but it's still hard to deny just how quiet the steady spacedrift of the Golden is after the incredible bustle and noise of the casino station.

Still, he's almost starting to sort of get used to it here--kind of--the longer his stay in the Fleet as a whole becomes. It's difficult keeping himself occupied the way he might have been with Lan around; with no one here yet familiar enough to nag at the same way, the excess energy goes into a lot of ship-poking and puttering and generally aggressive helpfulness at anyone needing any instead. The engineering augment has its uses like that, at least...broken something recently? Wondering how some part of the ship works? He can probably help you. Please let him help you.

He still doesn't actually use the bunkers when 'night' comes around, and the curious can find him past midnight dozing in a chair in his engineer's office instead, lights on. Other evenings, though, he's still awake, and has been poring over a rather large book ever since their return from the casino. His only purchase there, incidentally--it's a detailed textbook on upper-level robotics--and one particular night he's settled at his desk with helmet and gloves off (possibly for the first time since his arrival), mired in tools and wires, his half-dismantled right arm resting on the desktop while he works at it with his free left hand. Sure, he looks pretty preoccupied, but clearly it's a perfect time to remind him he left the door half-open too. Because that's the most important issue here. Yes.]

[Yeeeah definitely the kind of thing you don't see every day. Megaman would agree, really! This is all a pretty new experience to him too, if he's being honest.

But well, introductions probably don't get much more awkward than this--

Adachi crops up in the doorway, breaking the silence that had been otherwise hanging over the ship for a couple hours now, and Megaman almost falls out of his seat with the surprise of it. Turning to the door, he automatically tries to kind of--cover the opened-up arm with his free hand, as if this is somehow going to help things at all whatsoever.]

A-ah! Oh, hi, uh--this isn't what it looks like! [A beat, as the mild panic begins to let up and he blinks down at his arm for a moment.] Or...well, I guess it's exactly what it looks like, but--okay, it might look bad, but there's nothing to worry about here! Just. Getting in a bit of maintenance, you know.... [His voice trails off awkwardly, and he straightens a bit in his seat.] Um, can I help you with something, mister...?

[Well, alright, that's--that's okay too! Megaman supposes it's a reasonable enough reaction. Especially if you've never seen a robot before, which maybe this particular guy hasn't. Can't judge that, can he? No, probably not. As Adachi invites himself in Megaman accepts the new audience with mildly awkward grace, shrugging a bit and starting to sort out the tools on his desk as Adachi gets his fill of looking at the arm.]

Uh, yeah, that's right! I've got a robot body here. Still kind of getting used to it, to be honest...I'm actually not usually a robot! I'm a computer program, a NetNavi--but I guess the guys around here figured I ought to be in the real world for their show... [He pops a tool back into the toolbox also on the desk with his free hand, glancing up at Adachi.] It's funny, though, I haven't actually run into a lot of other robots here yet! As far as I can tell, anyway. But I guess it does make sense that there'd be robots, especially in space...
