SS Golden Mingle!
Who: The crew of the SS Golden
Broadcast: Nope
Action: SS Golden
When: 6/10 to 6/30
[With the exciting lights and sounds of the casino behind them, things seem to have really wound down for the fleet. With very little to do outside of the ship, what better way to try and stave off cabin fever than by socializing with one's fellow crew members? Compare casino winnings, swap stories about anything the other mysterious planet they left behind, or maybe just stare out the window together at the passing space debris. The choice is yours!]

Fine.
[She draws back, pushing the book across the table.]
It's just old stories. That's all.
no subject
If it's just a collection of old stories, then why be all secretive about it?
oops ignore that tag with the wrong account
[Aveline struggles a moment, then sighs. May as well come clean.]
And... Ser Aveline is my namesake. It's a bit embarrassing, honestly.
No worries!
So you share the same name as the main character? That's why you like the stories then, because you can pretend they're about you?
[How lame...]

[She huffs, half-rising.]
One story in this book is about Ser Aveline, and I have heard it more times than I ever care to repeat, and I certainly have no desire to hear about her glorious downfall one more time in my life.
no subject
Ah! Sorry! I didn't mean anything by it. I was just asking, because you said you shared the same name as her. That's all!
[He's waving his hands in front of his face, looking nervous like he just woke up a sleeping bear.]
If you don't like the story though... why read it again?
no subject
Ser Aveline is... very well known, back home. I'm tired of being compared to her.
[And everyone asks about the name, sooner or later, and it's annoying.]
But some of the other stories are... nice, and my father read them to me as a child. That's all.
no subject
Gotcha. So it's more of like... a nostalgia thing?
no subject
[It's... maybe more complicated than that, or at least it feels like it is. She rubs her temples, vaguely aggravated.]
They're ridiculous stories about knights and dragons, mostly. My... father used to read them to me.
no subject
Right. Got it. Childhood bed time stories. Not exactly literary classics, but that's not something to feel ashamed about or anything.
no subject
[She leans back in her chair with a bit of a sigh.]
My father was an Orlesian knight, and that's what he raised me on. I suppose I can lend it out, if you were hurting for something to pass the time with.
no subject
Nah, if it's that important to you, then I wouldn't want to borrow it and accidentally spill coffee on it or something.
[His tone is nonchalant, like he is being thoughtful and cautious. But internally, he's thinking: Not that I want to read any lame, childish bed time stories anyways...]
no subject
Your loss, then.
no subject
My loss? A minute ago you seemed practically attached to it. Far be it from me to separate you from something you clearly care about.
no subject
[Because she has no patience for being made fun of.]
no subject
Well, I'll let you get back to your book... uh, Miss Ave- Avey-
[Yes, he is struggling to remember/say her name.]
no subject
[She picks up her book and only slightly huffily turns away in her seat.]
no subject
Aveline, huh? Probably going to need some help remembering that name...
[He mutters to himself as he walks back down the ship's corridor.]
