[it's been a while since you've heard this jazzy little jingle, hasn't it? but with the planet now far behind them, the music comes in crisp and clear. the voice of your mysterious host, Diamond, is as chipper as always.]

Good morning, passengers! [despite it distinctly not being morning.] We have certainly had an interesting couple of weeks here, haven't we? Remember, change is good. Predictability doesn't make for a very interesting program, now does it?

[she giggles sweetly, along with some mild canned laughter.]

We've had quite a few passengers leave us since our last little chat. An unusual number of them have had names that start with the letter K! If your name starts with a letter K... Perhaps it's a good time to consider a name change. I adore names that start with D, myself!

[some heartier canned laughter plays in the background.]

Congratulations to the new commanding officer, Captain Young, and a belated welcome to both Captain Maladicta and Captain... Ah... Zeta, I believe! It is wonderful to see new faces on the Marsiva again--we hope you have a stunning time here on our lovely little program.

Lastly, if you happen to pick up any strange readings over the next few days, don't worry. There's nothing to be alarmed about. Radiation bounces around these asteroids all the time; it really speaks for the marvels of Atroma's engineering that you can see anything at all!

[ she isn't at first sure how she should respond to this. really, she isn't sure at second or third, either: she knows what he's feeling. she remembers feeling the same way when he'd left her at paradisa. so she tries, her voice soft but firm. ]

Sokka. Where are you?

[He considers not answering, but this isn't a big ship, and she'll find him eventually. She might be less lecture-y if she finds him early.]

I'm pretty sure if I ran away, you'd just tackle me to the ground anyway.

[He's still slouched in his captains chair, feeling sorry for himself. ]

And like magic, she arrives.

[ she doesn't even have the heart to faux-grump at him for that remark. instead, she just approaches the captain's chair, sort of gently leaning against its side. ]

[He pinches the bridge of his nose, exhaling. ]

Look, before I get a Katara Lecture, I know going off at Diamond was a dumb idea, and it'll probably come back to bite me in the hiney at some point.

Hey, come on. Who said I was going to lecture you?

[ anyone who has ever met you would assume it, katara... ]

Look... I know how it is. I can't really get angry at you for doing the exact same thing I've done.

I don't know, call it instinct.

It's just- we can't see them, we can't speak to them, we can't do anything. At least with the Fire Nation, we had someone we could fight against. Here? It's like fighting against thin air, and not the sort Aang can play around with. I've been here for nine months now, and I'm still no closer to figuring a way out.

It doesn't get easier, Sokka.

[ katara blurts that, and seems almost embarrassed by that fact -- but she just shakes her head, doesn't take it back, doesn't apologize. ]

I was at Paradisa for a year. People came and went, and it was the same thing. Sometimes the castle punished us for acting stupid, or for asking for too much. It really wasn't that bad most of the time, but - we couldn't fight back there, either. And it doesn't get easier, but... just because we can't fight it doesn't mean we can let it break us. I'm stronger than that. And you are, too.

The sentient building thing will never not sound really weird to me.

[He offers her a small smile.]

Look, I'm not planning on giving up any time soon. I just...need to figure out a new angle.

It never got any less weird, trust me.

[ she drops her hand to his shoulder, giving it a firm squeeze. ]

I told myself that you were okay when you disappeared, and I was right, so - just try to trust me when I say that I believe Suki's okay, too. Alright?

[He takes in a deep breath.]

And if people have seen her in the future from what I remember from back home, I guess that makes sense.
