Who: Cory Matthews and whomever!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: SS Huntress
When: Backdated to the day of the Shuffle!
[Cory had arrived not long before the Shuffle, and so it's all just clicking in for him as he's beamed onto the Huntress. He thinks he has it figured out.
And so, one might pick up on a family resemblance as he shouts.]
SHAAAWWWWWN!!
Where are ya, buddy? Come one out. You finally did it. Prank of the century. I really thought I was in outer space for a minute. But I got you now!
[He lingers for a moment, looking out one of the windows into space.]
Whatever you did? It's really convincing. I'm impressed! I hope you didn't spend too much money on this...

[His voice is starting to sound more serious, sober. The excited hope of some big prank by Shawn has subsided as he looks at the screen.]
Someone has to be there, Riley. You can't just be... wherever you are, by yourself.

[ But she doesn't add in its been a couple of months, she doesn't. Since at least the fleet isn't scary she can pretend for him. ]
It's the Paisley. There's a few other older kids here, so I'm not alone, really.

Riley, are you alright? Are we... are we really in outer space? [He'll take his daughter's word over the overwhelming evidence.]

[ It's said quietly, a little squeakier. Since the last she'd heard in Kyriakos is the world had been destroyed and that was a huge part of the reason they were being forced to play games. But it's not like she can tell him that-- it's not. And she's afraid he might think it's just her imagination and neither Riley or Lark could make something up like that. ]
I'm okay. There's a window, you can see for yourself. That's what I did-- it's really exciting.

You got a window... good, that's a good start. I bet you have a great view. But this one's probably a little harder to climb through... [It's a joke, get it?]

[ It's said quietly. She definitely can't, that's not a thing she can say. How long can Riley hide things from dad 2k15. ]
You can't climb through it. It's too small and I don't think it'd be a very good idea at all.

But I see doors here, so there's gotta be doors there too! Are you holding out on me?

[ why is the daughter getting on to him about this: one never knows. ]

Strange aliens? I hate those things! That's how people get eaten in the movies.
Fine! Those doors are off the menu.

[ HAS SHE TRAPPED HIM. dads must be protected at all costs. ]

...someone already left the door to this room open!

...Ah, of course.]
You know, in the 1880s, a guy named Frank Stockton wrote a short story about doors. Once I tell it to you, I'm sure that we'll all learn a little something.

[ ARE YOU TRYING TO TEACH HER WHEN SHE'S NOT IN SCHOOL.
THIS IS NOT ALLOWED, DAD. ]

What's this about a princess?

So, this story starts out in some very lovely kingdom. The king there, he has a very... unique way of judging people. He puts them in the area, and the guy's got to choose between two doors. One has a lady whom he hand-picked to be a good match for the accused... and the other door has a very hungry tiger. In that way, the person's innocence and guilt is decided entirely by chance.
[He's not even sure where he's going with this lesson
but pretending they're back in the classroom feels comforting.]

...Hey, I didn't get to the princess yet!
