Hey. So. It sounds like I've been kidnapped to participate in some crazy holo-show with a bunch of other people who've been kidnapped. I guess that's not evil, but it's still really annoying.

I'd make a stink about getting out of here once I find out where those jerks hid my lightsaber, but I've got a feeling that's not going to help much. So... hi. I'm Vima Sunrider. Are there any other Jedi around here?

[Vima is exploring before and after she makes that transmission... checking out the weird exercise equipment, looking at the big transmission screens, poking her head into the cafeteria, and mostly looking for other people.

You might also find her staring out of the bay windows, wondering just where in the Galaxy she is.]

Ugh... I really wish they hadn't taken it. It's about so long--[she holds her hands apart to demonstrate]--when it's not activated. When you switch it on, the blade is this long. [widens hands! about a meter apart.] For a Jedi, it's usually blue, green, yellow... not red, though. You should keep away from people with red lightsabers.

Then they're...colored swords?

[With retractable blades, as far as she can gather from that. Interesting.]

They're laser swords. The light is different colors. And they're one of a hallmarks of a Jedi Knight.

[hearsthesea]

Oh, so you're knights!

[Like Chloe. Things are starting to slide into place.]

Is everybody spread out, then?

[tobeajedi]

Yup! Protecting the innocent, mediating conflicts, good things like that.

[She nods.]

There are Jedi all over the Galaxy--masters, knights, and apprentices like me. Well, I'm not where I'm supposed to be anymore, but that's the idea.

[hearsthesea]

All over? I've never met another one...but perhaps they just haven't been to my world.

[tobeajedi]

It could be. There are still plenty of systems in the Outer Rim or Unknown Regions, and it's hard to find new hyperspace lanes to get there.

[hearsthesea]

And it's been a long time since people in my world looked beyond the skies, so we wouldn't have found anybody on our own. Perhaps one day, then, even far in the future...

[tobeajedi]

Really? [That sounds completely foreign to someone from a Galaxy where interstellar travel is entirely routine.] Not too far in the future, I hope. I can't imagine staying on only one planet for my whole life.

[hearsthesea]

We have our hands full just with our one planet, so I think it will be a little while until we're able to handle other ones as well. I do hope that time will come sooner rather than later, however.

[tobeajedi]

Me too. I bet it gets tense sometimes with a bunch of people cooped up on one ball of rock.

[hearsthesea]

It does. What you said the Jedi do...we could use much of the same. It's hard to avoid all conflict, but we can still do much better even among just ourselves.

[tobeajedi]

Yeah, you don't always need Jedi Knights to make peace between people--we just help out. [She studies Shirley for a moment.] But you seem like you're ready for a peaceful world.

[hearsthesea]

I am. I'd be part of the effort in promoting it, if I were home. Unfortunately the Atroma have had other plans, so that will have to wait.

[tobeajedi]

Well, I'm sure you'd do a good job if you were there. [...] Do they ever send us back?

[hearsthesea]

They say whoever gets the highest ratings at the end of the season - whenever that - goes home. But aside from that, we don't know much. Some people disappear, and it's possible that more than just the so-called winners are sent home as well. I don't know what they'd do with everyone otherwise.

[tobeajedi]

So we've gotta impress an audience full of people we've never seen... a culture we've got no idea about. [She puts a hand on her hip. Who even knows how long a standard year is in this place?

[So not what she expected in her first year as a proper Jedi.]

[hearsthesea]

A standard year?

[It takes her a second to process that.]

Is that a standard established between different planets?

[tobeajedi]

Yeah, since every planet has a different length of days, and time it orbits around its sun... some planets have a day as long as their year. So having a galactic standard is the only way to keep things organized.

[hearsthesea]

Hm...that makes sense, although it's never been brought up by the Atroma before. In any case, much of the goals we have to do is left a mystery. I suppose they think it's more entertaining to see us confused.

[tobeajedi]

It probably doesn't matter as much when we're confined to one area. [She scowls.] I bet you're right, though, about keeping us confused. That's probably why they have these transmitters already broadcasting when we wake up.

[hearsthesea]

It is effective if they like watching us like that. I remember when I was taken here, I was on a new ship within a matter of hours. It was disorienting, to say the least.

[tobeajedi]

That fast? [She looks around, as if expecting to see droids to forcibly escort her on the way.] What was the new ship like?

[hearsthesea]

It was the one I live on now, the Huntress. I'd never seen anything like it before and I didn't entirely understand everything that was going on, so I remember feeling overwhelmed more than anything.

[tobeajedi]

Sounds like I'm lucky, already being used to space travel. [Huntress is an awfully martial name.] Even with that, this is a lot to get used to... so how many ships are there hanging around?
