[Sheena's taking a break. She's dressed in purple clothes that are a bit more casual than her usual kimono-like fare, and she is cradling a cup of green tea as she leans across the table.]

So, that big ship we're digging into... We have technology on my world, but nothing like this. I've been beating the snot out of bugs for days, so I'm curious.

Has anyone found anything interesting? Or are we just wasting our time down there?

[She is! She's used to looking after a whole network of ninja spies. Chief in training, after all.]

No kidding. The worst thing is that the last place messed with time travel. Who knows how many different worlds and stuff were affected or... created.

[stickupherforehead]

[she winces at that.] Time travel is such...messy business. There's seems to be a brand of that here as well.

[ugh, this place makes her head hurt] I know things from home that Steven hasn't experienced yet. Is that the usual around here?

[fujibayashi]

Oh, brother. Yeah, that's definitely something that happens. I think it's part of the whole... [She makes a vague gesture.] ... 'your friends don't notice if you're gone' thing. How else could they make that work unless time travel was involved?

[stickupherforehead]

WELL [so glad you asked] if we were to run with the idea that multiple universes exist - and really, it seems to be the case with so many humans having so many different abilities and timelines, then it isn't really a stretch to assume that parallel universes exist as well. For example, there could be a universe in which Steven really was taken for three months and we...still haven't found him. Which would differ from my universe wherein Steven wasn't taken but I was taken instead.

[she had started out almost enthused about all this science jazz, but she seems more sober by the time she reaches the end.

At least you know your new engineer is probably good at this junk.]

Oh... yeah. They exist, believe me. [Sheena averts her eyes.] My best friend comes from a version of our world where things went down a bit differently. I've met people from my future who didn't seem to notice I was gone, too, and I've seen what happens when timelines become unstable.

There has to be something keeping the entire universe from... freaking out. Might as well be that.
