[ Ladon's been a rare sight lately, mostly because he's either been keeping an eye on Lucky or afterward, keeping to himself. There aren't caves here, so his instinct to hide and try to sulk through the pain has instead been replaced with his more human-like means of coping. That is, he's been getting really drunk and hating the world with every fiber of his being. If there has been a sober moment since he found Lucky's office empty, he can't really recall.

Currently he's seated in the cockpit of the Tourist, and thankfully he's not attempting to do any piloting, because he's definitely not in any state to be doing so. There may not be concrete walls or cliffs in space, but he'd probably find a way to wreck the ship anyway.

Either way, the fact that this broadcast is video is likely the result of those drunken motor skills, because the angle is weird, and he's typically an audio-only user. He's also not dressed as well as usual, gone is the tie and the vest and the suit jacket. His hat is stubbornly glued to his head, but currently he's in an undershirt, suspenders, and the pants from his suit. He also hasn't shaved in a bit, and is looking particularly scruffy.

He rubs at his chin, eliciting a scratchy noise, and he taps his half-empty glass of bourbon against the arm rest. ]

Ain't usually the type t'go givin' unsolicited advice but. [ He sighs. ] Some of you folks know, I been in a place like this before. Space station, was there for 'round a year. Anyhow. These places... they put us through some real shit, yeah? Some real... heavy shit. People hurt and get sick and die and you gotta work together to fix it. You gotta fight together. You gotta take care of each other. S'the only way to stay sane.

[ He takes a drink of the bourbon, winces a bit as it burns its way down. ] What I'm sayin' is... S'hard not to go gettin' attached, yeah? People you meet from other worlds, they ain't so bad, you make friends. Maybe more, hell if I know. But I just gotta say... Don't make the same mistakes I went makin'. Don't get attached. Because it ends, yeah? One way or the other, you go or they go. Best you can hope is you go first, and you fuckin' forget.

Ain't gonna stop most of you, I know. Gotta learn the hard way. But hell if I ain't gonna try sayin' it anyhow. Because I wouldn't wish this on fuckin' anyone.

[ And he cuts the feed. He can be found in the pilot chair still some time later, if anyone wants to deal with his drunken ass in person. ]

[The thought gives him a chill, and he has to look away from the screen for a moment, lips thinned in thought of his own losses. Gideon was still the worst, but there was all the times he'd been witness as the castle ripped away the friends and loved ones of all the people he'd come to know.]

Once is more than enough, but what is the alternative? Lock yourself in your room and bury your head under your pillow? It never works.

[He points at Ladon] If you haven't learned, you won't. Call it a fatal flaw in our characters - the kind of things that makes us the perfect subject for this kind of torture.

I'd say eat a bullet, but dunno if that'd even work here. Last place I was, you'd pop outta the last teleporter you used, like nothin' ever happened. Don't got any faith in Atroma lettin' us out that easy.

[ He says this with the coolness of someone used to gun violence and death. The flaw comment makes him grunt, not disagreeing but also audibly unamused that his personality is being exploited by the cruel people behind this "reality show." ] Guess I gotta learn t'be less amusin' to watch suffer.

[While gun violence isn't exactly something mundane to him, the statement shocks him not at all.] Neither do I, and I don't require a test to confirm it either, if you were actually considering it. The last place I was in simply resurrected people after a week, though it came with a price, like all of it's supposed gifts.

[He smirked sharply] And be boring instead? I don't think so...

Yeah, not interested. Temptin' sometimes, I'll admit, but when it comes down to it I like keepin' my brains inside my skull. [ Other people he has no problem shooting. He has no interest in turning the weapon on himself. ]

Boring, yeah. Boring's the ticket. Gimme a wife and some kids and a house and a job workin' at a bank or a factory, somethin' real run-of-the-mill. Boring folks're happy.

It takes a special kind of mental lethargy to be that boring. Most boring people, in my experience, hide the desire the strange or dark so they can pretend to be as boring as they think everyone else is. [After all, how many supposed respectable men ended up in his bed? Or how many other trysts and secrets had he heard about in the rumor mill that was the Mirador?]

Had plenty of the dark and strange. It ain't what it's cracked up to be. More trouble than anythin', and it don't make for a healthy life watchin' your back or keepin' two steps ahead. Rather have the kinda problems fellas with a normal life face, yeah? Beats avoidin' jail and the big sleep every day.

Unfortunately, you've landed yourself in another kind of prison, which implies on it's own that you have the tendency to attract the extraordinary whether you want to or not. I think that's something all of us share.
