002 - Take your protein pills and put your helmet on ; video
Who: Clay Terran and all of YOU!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: SS Vanquish, bridge
When: 6/29, afternoon
[When the video comes on, Clay's looking at it with a big, excited grin on his face that seems to only increase in wattage once he realizes it's on. He sits back on his heels then, arms wrapped around his knees, though they probably won't stay like that for long.]
I haven't been here very long, but I've still met so many people with such cool powers! [And, indeed, he begins to gesture and lean forward as he describes each power.] Super strength, fighting with magic cards, reality bending, and flight! I never even knew those kinds of things were possible outside of comic books and tv shows!
[He rocks back again, arms winding around his knees once more as he seems to calm just a bit.]
So tell me about your powers. What are they like? Is it natural to you, or do you... I don't know, have to call on something in order to make it happen? And for you people who don't have powers, like me, what kind do you wish you had? [And the thought of it just makes him move once more, arms out and gesturing.] If I could have powers, I'd have flight, the ability to breathe anywhere I wanted, and super durability. Or maybe - maybe adaptability? That way I could go into space any time I wanted without getting into a heavy suit!
[... Aaand calm again.] So, yeah. Powers? I really want to know. It's of astronomical importance.

video;
[His eyes are wide, because dragons. As a kid, dragons were one of his favorite mythological creatures, mostly because they could fly.
We don't talk about the dragon with starry scales OC that he made when he was like nine]That's amazing - that you made it, I mean. And the dragons! They're both amazing!
[He shuffles a bit closer to the camera.] How does it work?
video;
[First time someone hasn't freaked out about the dragon thing. Maybe his good luck will continue.]
It takes more than just having wings to stay aloft. Dragons have a way of steering themselves, too. Most of the time it's in the tail or the back.
[He bonks the little button on his armor. There's a springy noise and suddenly he has a fin on his back! Like a fish, except... you know, for the air. He turns so that Clay can see it.]
video;
Oh! So it's like a vertical stabilizer! [... But, figuring that Hiccup might not know what that is - ] It helps you steer but also prevents you from swinging side to side too much, right? How do you control it?
video;
[He begins snapping the flaps back into place.]
We're just not meant to fly separately.
video;
video;
That's right. He's a little unusual though, being a-- a dragon and all.
video;
[He actually sounds impressed by that. A tiny part of him wonders how one can be best friends with a giant lizard, but once look at Hiccup's eyes while he talks about the dragon and he gets it. Clay's pretty sure he gets that look too, while he talks about Apollo.]
Dude, that sounds so cool. But - wait, he doesn't have any teeth?
no subject
[Hiccup doesn't want to date his dragon. Otherwise, accurate.
The question makes him grin lopsidedly.]
He does, actually. They're just retractable. The name stuck, though.
no subject
but also truuuue]Why would I? A best friend's a best friend. And he's got retractable teeth! I can't imagine wanting to ever retract my teeth - you know, unless they were too sharp for my mouth or something. Is that why?
no subject
[He scritches at his cheek.]
I'm not sure, actually. He only takes them out when he's eating or being aggressive. Maybe it's a dominance thing?
