[Beverly woke up this morning feeling strangely... invigorated. Looser, more carefree, and dare she say it? Happier than she's felt in months, ever since she first arrived on the Marsiva. To celebrate, she decided to head for the beach.

Which is where you'll find her now, lounging on a towel and reading a book that looks suspiciously similar to the ah... literature Dorian was so kind as to read out loud to the network a while back. At the very least, there's a ridiculous picture of a shirtless burly man in a plaid kilt on the front cover. As for her, well, she's wearing a very stylish green bathing suit and a big white sunhat, thoughtfully provided by a fan (who has thankfully saved you all from seeing her in some 1980s sparkly gold monstrosity instead). No doubt if you approach her, she'll flash a blinding smile your way and cheerfully engage you in conversation. Or better yet, some fun activities! Right now, she's up for almost anything!]

Hello, Dr. Crusher.

[Daneel's walking along the beach, occasionally stopping to inspect an interesting shell or bit of seaweed. Well, interesting for him, anyway. He doesn't do "relaxed" but satisfying general curiosity is at least nice. If unproductive.]

I hope you are quite well today.

[Setting down her book, Beverly gives Daneel a warm smile. He doesn't need to be an empath to sense her general state of contentedness, as it's written all over her face.]

You're allowed to call me Beverly you know.

[Happy is good. He won't question it just now. Being told to address someone informally is... a little unsettling. He's not used to that.]

If you'd prefer it, Beverly. You seem quite happy today.

As long as I'm off duty, I would. Seems a little much, insisting on formality when we're at the beach.

[Well, he knew she was happy, but this sort of small talk about nothing is often important to humans. He's trying to fit in. And he likes the confirmation.]

This is a situation that many would find difficult, after all. Perhaps you would prefer it if I not disturb you?

No, no, stay! [She pats her hand on the sand next to her.] I like the company!

[And she means it too, both generally, as she's a rather outgoing person, and specifically in regards to Daneel. He feels... familiar.]

[He takes a seat, cross-legged on the sand.]

Is there something in particular that has you in such a good mood today, Beverly?

Yes, but you may not like the answer.

[Julian certainly didn't, and she doesn't blame him. If the situation were reversed, no doubt she would be upset about it too.]

[Well that means he has to know.]

It's my augment... or at least, I presume so. I don't know what else would have caused the spike in my serotonin levels.

[Because of course she scanned herself this morning. That drastic of a mood change overnight is not at all normal for her.]

[This is... unsettling and also the first time he's heard of something like this.]

[Her face falls for a moment. As much as it can fall anyway.]

Last time it glitched, it didn't do any lasting damage! I'll keep monitoring my vitals, just in case, but my crew won't let anything happen to me!

You suggest then, that this is something that must merely be endured, with no lasting damage. I hope you are correct.

[He sighs, though, because this is really sort of an upsetting discovery.]

I suppose at least it is not a difficult thing to suffer.

No, it's not... much better than before at least!

[She turns to look at him very carefully.]

I know it may not seem like it, from my attitude, but I am aware of how frightening this is. My mind is still perfectly clear and I remember how scared I was, the last time my augment glitched. But I'll still take this to the hallucinations any day.

[He gives her a very careful look.]

This is true. As far as possible side effects go, this is minimal. What do you plan to do with your time, then, while you are so afflicted?

Oh, I will still be working with the Nunnalis, wherever they need me. But I realize I've been too hard on myself lately... I need to be having a little more fun, especially while we are on such a beautiful planet!

Relaxing is likely a good plan, then, all considered. What do you intend to do that might be fun?

[As opposed to sitting here talking.]

I don't know yet. I've been swimming already, and I don't really know how to play volleyball.

[Drawing up her knees to her chest, she rests her chin on them thoughtfully for a minute. Then... an idea!!!]

Do you know if there's any place with music around here?

[He considers this a moment.]

I passed a small musical group at an open-air bar on my way here, if that appeals to you.

Oh, that's perfect!

[She unfolds herself and stands up, holding out one hand to Daneel.]

Why don't you come with me?

[He takes her hand with a polite nod of his head.]

As you wish, Beverly.

[He's not... quite... sure what it is she wants, but he's happy enough to follow along.]

[She helps him up, squeezing his hand happily before letting go and bending over to rummage through her bag. A moment later, she pulls out a semi-sheer beach cover up and tosses it on.]

Tell me, Daneel, do you know how to dance?

[Well, that's an unexpected question. As is being helped up but he won't complain because that would be rude.]

I have never been expected to dance. I have observed it, of course, but I've never attempted it myself.

You're in luck! I happen to be an expert in teaching androids how to dance.

[One android anyway. It's clear from her tone of voice that she is more joking than bragging.]

That is, if you're interested.

[That's a thing you can be an expert in? That's a thing there's any demand for at all, ever? Even as a joke? Still, she wants to teach him, and he doesn't want to offend by refusing.]
