out of one prison & into another
Who: Bucky & You
Broadcast: ?????
Action: From the Marsiva
When: 7/28
[Consciousness came slowly, like climbing out of a fog. Before he opened his eyes, he knew something was amiss; the familiar noises that accompanied him waking up were absent. There should be some sort of noise, be it the hiss of the cryostasis chamber, or the bumbling gait of the scientists that aided in mission preparations.
Nothing.
Blearily opening his eyes, he was startled if not perplexed. This wasn't right. His mission, he--
Head whipping around, his vision darted rapidly for the windows and all points of entry. No sign of anyone else around. Captain America- that had been his mission, but this was...impossible.
Getting off the cot, the joints of his bionic arm creaked as he pushed himself to stand. The large window caught his eye, the view of the stars impressive. They invoke some sort of feeling in him, though he's not sure exactly what.
The lack of any sort of life around is concerning, though not unwanted. Being alone is something of a treat, and the gentle hum of the station itself helped quell the noise in his brain for now. It also helps that he's got a basic comprehension of where he is, though it doesn't particularly calm him.
Despite the freedom to move about, he can't shake the feeling of being snared, like there is something he is missing just out of reach. While there is no one in the immediate area, they could be close, and he opens his mouth to speak.]
..Hello?
[The single word is slightly hoarse, scratching at his throat from disuse, but perhaps not unheard.]

..Hello?
[The single word is slightly hoarse, scratching at his throat from disuse, but perhaps not unheard.]

video;
It had to be a joke, didn't it? He was a weapon and he knew that. Suddenly having the knowledge to do the opposite of what he was programmed to do? It didn't sit well with him in the least.
He didn't think he was capable of that. Perhaps he was a little indifferent about the situation, but maybe he would wake up and this will all just have been a cryostasis-induced dream.]
It's expected to be done. You can't just ignore a mission..
[Could you?]
video;
She focuses on his expression, but can't really get a read off him. So she goes with cautious honesty, even though his response wasn't really a question, she still disagreed. So.]
I dunno. I guess it depends on who's givin' you the mission. An' what it is, an' what the consequences of it are.
[She'd been drafted on her fair share of missions in Luceti, and often the Malnosso wanted things done a Certain Way... and whether or not Rogue went along with it had been entirely a matter of what she'd been able to discern at the time.]
video;
Consequences for who?
[If you completed the mission successfully, there shouldn't be consequences, right? Something about that doesn't sit will with him.]
video;
...everybody?
[She isn't sure she needs to elaborate on that, and Rogue tends not to be the most talkative, so... there you go.]
video;
[It wasn't anything he was ever left to consider. He went in, he eliminated the target, he went back to base and gave a mission report, he we wiped and placed back into cryo.
This place was starting to make him raise questions..]
video;
...anyway, that's about all I know about this place. Like I said, I haven't been here long. The Marsiva, the ship you're on, seemed like a pretty safe place ta me when I was on it. I didn't see anyone but another new person an' a bunch of real silent droids. [Pause a beat.] An' a lot of elevator music.
[Which doesn't sound like something a person can see, really, but trust her - it was as oppressive as a neon pink wall.]
video;
She didn't seem satisfied with his answer, but he didn't feel pressured to readjust his response. He acknowledged what she said, at the very least..]
It isn't the worst place I have been..
video;
Her natural inclination would be to either make a joke or soberly agree, and Rogue wasn't exactly sure which route to take. So of course, in the spirit of whistling in the dark, she goes for humor, though she gentles any sharp edges of the joke considerably.]
There ya go, [warm, wry approval in her voice] you're lookin' on the bright side already.
video;
[He'd yet to find it, but there wasn't inherent 'badness', either.]
Re: video;
An' now you sound like an established 'weird place' veteran. Congratulations. [Her tone was still warm, wry, approving.]
video;
video;
Rogue pauses for a moment, but no, it looks like that shrug is all she's gonna get. Pause a beat, search for something to say, the moment marches on from natural into awkward and then she breaks the silence.]
Well! Enjoy the ship, I guess. You'll be up there 'til the weekend when they shuffle you into one of the smaller ones.
