[Hello, Fleet, there's a fearsome-looking suit of armor peering at the screen- though right now only one of his eyes is visible.]

So this is like a telephone or a radio, right? Except there are pictures and words on it, too! I really like it!

I'm Alphonse. Uh, don't mind how I look- I wear armor for protection. [Al wasn't under any delusions that he'd be able to keep the fact that he was hollow inside a secret for very long- he never seemed to be able to- but he was going to try.]

Brother, are you here, too? Major Miles? ... Winry?

[Action, on the Marsiva]

[There wasn't much Al could to do make himself look less conspicuous- he'd accepted that long ago- but here, in this unfamiliar place, he wished more than ever that he could. The Homunculi had eyes and ears everywhere in Amestris, and he had to be working under the assumption that they were here, too. He could only hope that they wouldn't be putting any innocent people in danger trying to find him.

He was also worried about Edward. He knew his brother would be fine in the storm, watched over by Major Miles, but what would happen to him afterward? And what about Winry, May, and Dr. Marcoh? He could care less about Scar, but he'd gone out to try and warn them that Briggs was unsafe, and now there was nobody to deliver that message.

Of course, if he kept blacking out... if this was it, if his soul was going to let go of his armor body... he might not have been able to get to them himself anyway.

Al let out a sigh. At least the view was pretty. Stars were everywhere.]

[How's your ship doing, pardners? Is it still pretty damaged? Is it glitching out hardcore? Well, there is one place to land to take care of all that, and that's on a dusty old moon in front of a planet that no one wants to go to. On this moon, you'll find a civilization that looks a lot like one's stepped into a wild west movie, hardened cowpolk and mutant horses and all. Will you become a vigilante, hunting bounties and stopping gangs from doing their dirty work? Will you go exploring planetside, with a cowboy hat and a stalk of wheat in your mouth to complete the look? Good luck with that; there is no wheat. This town ain't big enough for all you flooters, but make it so! For the ratings!

thespaceopera: (red alert)
[personal profile] thespaceopera
[The nebulas are beautiful in this region of space, at the very least. They gleam as great distorting clouds of space-stuff that your scanners don't even want to attempt to analyze. They affect the ships' instruments much like other areas of disruption have in the past, but these are actually visible as large swathes of light--like giant flames frozen in their swirling shapes, suspended across impressive stretches of space. For once, there's something like scenery to look at, out here in the black...

And then, the proximity alarms begin to blare.

From a gap between the two nearest clouds comes an assemblage of ships! Familiar to some and new to others--they do not respond to hails or communications of any kind, and they're gunning straight for the Fleet without slowing. Their weapons are locking on and firing as soon as they are in range.

Many passengers have been through this before, and many of the ships are bigger and better than they'd been in the previous skirmish. Today, the Drift Fleet will put up a better fight, even punch a few holes in their attackers.

Your augment knows where you need to go! Do you run to your station? Do you dodge your job? Are you unsure how to help? Are the captains giving orders or panicking, and are their crews paying attention? Everyone's got a chance to fight back before the enemy fleet runs them into the nearest nebula--and things suddenly take a bad turn.

As soon as each Drift Fleet ship hits the nebula, its systems overload and short-circuit before going dead. It stays silent for minutes, no radar, no comms, no network. Stubborn stragglers are ganged up on and forced into the cloud, followed by the poor ships on autopilot being bodily hauled into the nebula with tractor beams. Once the entire Fleet has been set adrift as sitting ducks, before the Marsiva can get too close, the attacking fleet... turns and flees through the cloud, seemingly untouched by the nebula that scrambles your ships.

Eventually, the systems flicker back to life, blinking on one by one. It will be several hours before any other effects of the attack will be noticeable. The network shows up as live again, but Atroma never shows up to explain a thing...]

ooc: the out-of-character event post is over here! respond to this post any way you like; you can have action, comm messages, play during the attack, being stuck in the nebula, checking in after the network comes back online, or whatever else seems fitting.

When: Today / Sept 4

[Waking up in unfamiliar surroundings is not new for Kazuto, but in the past it's been quite a different experience. It's not an MMO this time, which is what catches him off guard the most. He can tell immediately, even with a simple glance around- the world is too real, too detailed. (Just in case, he tests a few menu-summoning gestures, but no dice.)

Waking up in a hospital-eque area makes him think that something went wrong with his last MMO dive, but that isn't right. He clearly remembers being safe and healthy the night before- they'd checked him out at the hospital before he'd gone to Sinon's. So... what? A kidnapping? Some kind of experiment? Something about this place doesn't feel right, and there's information slowly filtering into his head that doesn't make much sense.

And then he goes and looks out a window. Yikes.

He spends some time wandering, quietly observing, though there isn't really anyone to observe- computers, broadcasts, machines, yes, but people? The place is pretty deserted. It's eerie and uncomfortable, and he gets totally lost before long. Finally, though, he puts to use the knowledge of the broadcast system that is inexplicably in his head now, typing out a message.]

Is anyone out there available to answer some questions? I don't understand what's happened to me.

But that is dampened a bit by the conflicting feeling. The last time he was being taken to space, he was being captured and it was a Very Bad Thing.

The tiny child paces around uncertainly, trying to look for any sign of friend or foe. At least he doesn't seem to be in a prison cell this time. Maybe this isn't so bad?

When he finds the video feed, he'll prod at it uncertainly, while trying to be brave.]

Hey! Is anyone there?

Um... This is a nice spaceship! I really like it, and I always wanted to go on a space adventure. But I have important things going on back home, so it would be nice to save the space vacation for later!

For one, he's in space, on a spaceship, something he didn't realize was possible until about fifteen minutes ago. He wandered around a bit, trying to find his friends, his professors, his bloody castle.

Bit of a ridiculous stretch for a beginning of the year prank, yeah?

[He almost sounds hopeful, but James isn't stupid, and he at least has the common decency to avoid the stupid questions ("How are we not suffocating in space?" "How can I fly this thing?"), instead focusing on the completely asinine.]

I hope one of you is open to forging a letter of absence to a one Professor Minerva McGonagall. Make sure it includes that it is definitely not James Potter's fault -- quote that bit -- and that I valiantly resisted any attempted kidnappings with bravery.

Now with the planet likely being too far out to return to soon he's making sure he didn't leave it on the surface.

He didn't, but it did somehow manage to wedge itself in an awkward spot between the bunk and the wall. Which is how he accidentally turns it on while reaching for it. The fleet is given some quality entertainment with a blank screen, some male sounding grunts, a few "come on!"s before there is finally an: AH-HA! And Vash's face finally shows on the screen.

The outlaw has his typical easy going smile on his face. Although his hair hasn't been properly styled just yet so it's falling down in some places instead of perfectly standing up like a broom.]

[So, things happened. Teammates arrive. It's kind of a mess and so Lark-- Riley-- hasn't left her personnel room as much as she usually might. There's still random pictures being put up around the Huntress when she gets up to it, but mostly she's been sitting under the tiny window where she's shoved a desk and covered it with blankets and pillows.

This is the first time she's been without her Bay Window. Even before, it was the one thing that followed her. And while it didn't solve everything, even then, this false one doesn't seem to hold the same magic. It's not solving her feelings or her problems and it's. Well, lonely... for starters.

So it's eventually that she decides to say something again. It's more than a little bit of nervousness that she turns the communicator on holed up on her make-shift window seat as she brushes back her hair. ]

Hi, again. Sorry I don't say much-- But I wanted to ask something. Because this isn't my window and i t's not working because it's not got it's magic. And I don't think it will ever, because it's not actually a window and I need a window.

[Wow, Lark, calm down.] I have two names, Riley Matthews and Rainbow Lark. And they're both really important. Riley is what mom and daddy gave me [--a slip, to those who knew her, she only says daddy when she's upset. not that it's hard to tell--] Lark is the name Takshaka gave me, before I cam here. And at the time... I only really remembered them? I remember lots more not but. That's not the point.

I know a lot of people are here from different places. I've spoken to them. And it's hard because... Things feel different? And people say I'm not different, but that's. Places like this are way different then where we're from. So I wanted to ask...

What do you do about that? Are you really still you? I think that's it. I don't really understand anything at all right now.

[She looks a little apprehensive, but tries to smile warmly. She knows people will see this she doesn't want to exactly, but she's also not good at lying. And it's not that she doesn't think she can't be Riley-- she's still a mess and wants to do good for the people she loves that are here. So of course she sat in the window for a long time. It's probably too bad none of this made sense outside of head.]

Nothing.

Blearily opening his eyes, he was startled if not perplexed. This wasn't right. His mission, he--
Head whipping around, his vision darted rapidly for the windows and all points of entry. No sign of anyone else around. Captain America- that had been his mission, but this was...impossible.

Getting off the cot, the joints of his bionic arm creaked as he pushed himself to stand. The large window caught his eye, the view of the stars impressive. They invoke some sort of feeling in him, though he's not sure exactly what.

The lack of any sort of life around is concerning, though not unwanted. Being alone is something of a treat, and the gentle hum of the station itself helped quell the noise in his brain for now. It also helps that he's got a basic comprehension of where he is, though it doesn't particularly calm him.

Despite the freedom to move about, he can't shake the feeling of being snared, like there is something he is missing just out of reach. While there is no one in the immediate area, they could be close, and he opens his mouth to speak.]

Who: Miah and Marhi and anyone else
Broadcast: Both parts video
Action: First part on the Marsiva!
When: July 25, backdated to before the Shuffle!

Action/video
[The camera will record a rather amusing sight on the Marsiva today, given that Miah doesn't usually sleep in full plate armor. Given the spikes and decoration on it, it takes her a full minute to extricate herself from the sheets without it catching on something or another, and then another still to actually try to free the sheets from her shield without tearing anything. Really, this would be easier without thick gauntlets on, but given that she's woken up in unfamiliar territory, she's not inclined to remove her armor. Instead, she'll just be watching the area carefully, ready to fight at a moment's notice. It won't be long before an armored boot accidentally connects with the camera, switching it off.

Just video

[This time, Miah can be found sitting and facing the camera properly, though her tail flicks around behind her anxiously. She's still in the full plate armor, though. Beside her is a slightly less armored, slightly taller woman of dark blue skin with a black and white tuxedo cat pattern to her hair, cat ears and tail. ]

... Greetings. I am Miah Lanbatal. Though I like not the idea of it, I now understand the situation, due to this 'implant'. If there is aught else I should know, I would ask that I be told. How long has this 'reality show' been going on for? And what is known of the Atroma?

Aside that, I seek my companions. A Miqo'te woman, C'Ranmaia, or barring them, an Elezen boy and Lalafellin woman, Alphinaud Levilleur and Tataru Taru. They all of them possess garb quite distinctive, so if they are here, they should be quite easy to find. Thank you for your assistance.

[ The second, blue woman abruptly leans into the camera. ]

As Miah has asked all else, I must question if there are any who know of “Teams”, “Takshaka” or the land “Kyriakos” here. If it so, answer anon. [ A belated pause as she recalls common courtesy. ] Please.

[With that, Miah’ll reach forward and, after fumbling with the communicator a bit (seriously, gauntlets make buttons hard), she'll switch the feed off.]
