It was almost too much to believe.

An unspoiled planet, clear blue skies, water as far as the eye could see. She pans the camera around to catch the expanse of beach with the ocean stretching out to the horizon, the sun glinting off the waves, a few puffy clouds wafting their way past.

"I will never tire of this."

She'll be on the beach, just walking along and taking it all in. Trudging through sand is not unfamiliar with her, but the sound of the waves is intoxicating and foreign.

Thank you. [It had taken him a very long time to find one precisely the right shade of yellow, so he's quite proud of his purchase and holds it up for inspection.] They're useful as well as ornamental. I could hardly resist purchasing it.

Did you happen to talk to a boy? Heavily scarred, two lumps on his shoulder? Overeager? He was telling me about your fish, actually.

[The Vision shakes his head, brow furrowed. No, he would have remembered that distinct of an appearance.] I'm afraid not. The fishes are for sale in many of the tourist shops, however, and can be obtained for a minimal price.

[She gives him a sort of blank expression while it sinks in, and then furrows her brow in confusion.]

You mean there's a market for this kind of nonsense.

[There. She said it. Why are you playing with food.]

Certainly. [He raises his eyebrows. She can see the art in a beach, but not in a pet? Interesting.]

They provide both function and amusement, and unlike a traditional flashlight do not require an electric charge.

[She's silent for a moment, watching him and his fish while it sinks in. She knows things are different here, but old instincts pull at her; you didn't dismiss food when you found it.]

I guess I just come from a place where food is a greater priority than amusement.

[His gaze hardens very slightly. If anyone even so much as tries to use his pets as food there will be some serious repurcussions.]

Fortunately, that is not the case either here or on our ships. Food is in abundance, though it is plain.

[She remains impassive at his subtle change, but she notes it and is irritated by it, and that comes through in her tone.]

True, there's no threat of me eating anyone's fish, [She can't speak for Nux.] but it's going to take some time to get used to the idea.

[Ah, well, there's no avoiding feelings brought from one's home.]

I understand. Thank you for the reassurance, I suppose.

You're that attached to it?

[She's curious, since this is a new concept to her.]

[He tilts his head, slightly curious. If food is that important, clearly there aren't such a thing as pets where she's from.]

By purchasing the fish as a pet, I have taken responsibility for its wellbeing. I take such responsibility seriously.

[Which might be evident in the continued blank stare she gives him as she lets that sink in. Not eating animals is one thing, choosing to care and feed for them a whole other level.] I hope it doesn't disappoint you.

Were pets popular where you're from?

Yes, very much so. Companionship is highly valued, but there are pets that do work as well. A light source that doesn't depend on electricity may come in handy. [Granted, Mr. Stark tended to have simple AI-bots as pets rather than animals, but Dum-E was most definitely a pet.]
