I am! Um - and a good one, too! I think. [ she doesn't want to sound like a bragger, but she felt pretty good about her skills in the kitchen. she'd had plenty of time to hone them back in her tower. ]

[ino]

Great!

[ She grins ]

Seriously, you have no idea how badly we've needed a cook. We're missing a couple of other things, but most of those I can make up for ... I mean, I can cook when I have to, but without an official cook we don't get good ingredients and stuff like that.

[gleamed]

Well! I'm glad I can help out in more ways than one, then! [ though she does find it a little...odd that the ship didn't get good ingredients unless a cook was on board. surely, the other crewmembers could do a little cooking here and there...?

well, there is a lot about this place she doesn't understand. she'll just add this to the list! ]

Oh! What if I made a big dinner for everyone to eat together tonight? Do you think...I mean, I don't want to assume - would that be okay?

[ino]

[ Yeah, it's weird. The whole thing is weird. But honestly, Ino is just excited that Rapunzel is here. ]

I'm sure everyone would love that! [ She leans in, a little conspiratorially ] Between you and me, most of the rest of the crew on this ship are like, you know, ... typical boys who don't know how to do stuff like cook and clean and all that -- so having another girl around will be great!

[gleamed]

[ rapunzel had gotten the impression that boys, often being ruffians and thugs, probably didn't have the best hygiene or household skills, so she's more than happy to fill in there. ]

I'm so glad you think so! We can keep those boys in line together. How many people are on this ship?

[ino]

[ She laughs ]

Including you and me, there's six. So there's not too many.

[gleamed]

That seems like a lot to me! [ ... ] Um, I'm an only child.

[ino]

[ Aww. ]

Well, you've got your own room and stuff, so you'll have privacy if you need it.

[gleamed]

That will be nice, too. [ though she'll probably be spending as much time as possible with others. ] How long have you been here?

[ino]

Uh -- it's getting close to a year now, actually.

[ Wow. That's a lot. She'll ...... process that later. Alone. ]

[gleamed]

Wow! That's a long time! [ is this helping ] Are you...homesick?

[ino]

[ NOT REALLY. But after being in Paradisa for seven years and here for now close to one, she's used to the question ]

Well, yeah, of course. Most people would be after that long, unless the place they came from was scary and awful or something.

[gleamed]

And...they never let us go home?

[ a year is an awfully long time to not see the people you care about. ]

[ino]

No, you'll go back eventually. There's just not really a set amount of time you'll be here for any one person. Could be a day, could be a year.

[ Could be longer, but she doesn't want to scare the poor girl. ]

Most people stay a month or two, from what I've noticed.

[gleamed]

Hm... [ what would it be like for her to be here a year? or even a month? would she get tired of it? everything is still so new and exciting, but what if that changed?

...well, she just wouldn't let it! ]

Are any of your friends from home here? I heard that happens sometimes.

[ino]

Not mine, but I know a lot of people who do have friends or family here. It's not too uncommon for others to follow if one person shows up.

[gleamed]

[ rapunzel smiles softly at that. ]

I...that would be nice. B-but if they don't show up here, I'll at least have all my new friends!

[ so! she'd be okay if eugene didn't show up here anytime soon. ]
