[ WHAT A SILLY QUESTION. ] It has to do with crisp, high-definition sound quality. Don't you hate it when speakers just sound like garbled nonsense? It's completely practical. And it makes explosions sound amazing. The firework explosions. We'll have them mic'ed.

While I agree that the ability to communicate clearly and effective is of the utmost importance, I do not believe explosions are of any practical use.
