[there is an almost-long-standing tradition in the Skullface Household regarding having a certain dinner on a certain night of the month because certain creepy vampire hunters just kind of miss the food that their moms used to make sometimes. Zhas had been unsuccessful in aquiring the ingredients until very recently--when he figured out that this economy-sized pack of Floot Loop Macaroni was not actually Floot Loop flavored (they're just "loop" shaped, whatever that means...) and that there's a place down on the dusty moon that sells little meat-based sausage things that are basically hotdogs if you squint at them a little.

so one night when everyone's home, the crew gets a text from Zhas saying 'KITCHEN', which is somewhat-helpfully followed up with, 'there is food'.

because guess what losers it's a RED FISH FAMILY DINNER and he secretly likes all of you enough to share.

so sit your ass down around the table and start eating because there is a ton of crappy out-of-the-box macaroni with little meat pieces in it!! there's also bread and bowls and utensils and whatever else other people contribute. tag in with food prep, or showing up, or already eating, or all of those things... threadjacking (and breadjacking) is highly encouraged so do what makes you happy it's freakin' macaroni night.

suck it Blue Fish we can have a nice dinner too (I'm kidding it'll be a mess)]

[Nux is eating a lot.

A lot.

Nux is eating like someone that doesn't get fed often enough -- and to be fair, from the look of him, that's probably been true up until the last couple of months. He'll eat his own bowl, and then seconds, and thirds if he's able. He'll eat everyone else's leftovers right off their plates as soon as they seem like they're finished. He might try do so even when they're not finished, so watch your bowls, everyone.]

[Coil's meal might be in danger, then.

he's a slow eater because he has to be, and he never appears to be enjoying what he's eating. it's a struggle full of frequent pauses, especially when peering over to watch the little details of someone else's behavior across the table is far more fascinating.

he could very easily be mistaken for being more or less done with his meal... or at least maybe not very deserving of it.]

[Coil, your bowl is now forfeit. Nux sees it sitting abandoned, half-empty, Coil's attention elsewhere, and he reaches over and picks it up without a second thought.

This is, like, Nux's fifth helping by now, but he shows no signs of slowing. He's never been dangerously full before, but apparently he's challenging that tonight.]

[it's a good thing that he keeps Nux on his seeing side when they're sitting down, otherwise he wouldn't have noticed the theft until he finally went to fish another scoop out of the bowl.

as it is, Nux only gets it halfway to himself before Coil notices and suddenly snaps a hand out to grab for the nearest wrist, trying to slap it down toward the table.]

[Oh, no. Nux yanks his hand back, then growls at him.]

You're not eating it.

[Too damn slow, dude.]

[Coil can't growl back, but the sentiment is there in his eye and the hard line of his mouth.

he stabs a finger down on the table--pointing for Nux to put it back where he got it from, right in front of Coil. it's a silent demand, and it's the only warning Nux is going to get.

hopefully no one else was really expecting a nice family dinner.]

Not if you're just gonna let it sit there.

[maybe he'd caught the 'one warning' trick from Zhas--and maybe the fact that Zhas is sitting right there is making it worse--but Coil doesn't try to argue or explain this time.

he just lunges for Nux's other arm, the one without a bowl of food in it. just like he'd done on the bridge during Nux's chaotic welcome, he grabs for that key point so he can twist the joint against bones and nerves.]
