[This is not happening. Nope. There were happy endings, and sunshine, and portals home, and she damn well walked through one. Not only does this quiet, sterile place bear no resemblance to, y'know, a brigantine sloop or a crazy ocean, but she's turned up here alone.

She was pretty sure the animus were on the level with the whole going home thing. The fact the Adstringendum communicator is giving her nothing but static when she tries to use it is, uh. Not comforting, to say the least. She explores the accessible area in due haste, looking for anyone she recognises. Or anyone at all. And then she sits cross-legged in the middle of the one hallway and tries to get the communicator working by prying at it with fingernails, hitting random buttons, and eventually just hitting the wall with it a few times before tossing it away from her with a huff.

Not happy doesn't really cover it.

She finds the broadcast system, staring down at the controls suspiciously. She shouldn't know how to use this. But, well. In the absence of being able to do anything else-- ]

This turning up in mysterious new places thing was old the first time it happened. Where the hell is this, and what hoops do I have to jump through to get home? [Sweet, sweet sarcasm. But at least she's holding onto her temper.] And where's my staff?

And-- and who fixed my shirt?

[Serious question, that one.]

Same. [She grins back briefly.] I'm guessing space is probably a pretty new concept for us both.

Terribly so. I can't say I'm overly fond of it so far.

[She can't quite agree there. If she wasn't here against her will she'd be fascinated. But she definitely gets the sentiment.]

I guess at least I can be distracted by it for a while. But I'd still prefer to be home-- there's no fresh air up here, or sun. Or ocean.

No green and pleasant land, neither.

[ softly -- ironically -- she quotes the hymn she'd known since childhood. ]

Or friends from home. I miss those most.

Haven't found anyone you know? [ a shame, really. her sympathy is distant -- not too cloying. ]

Not yet. And nobody recognises the people I'm asking for, either. I'm trying to work out if that's a good or a bad thing.

It might yet be a blessing. I can't speak in either direction. Not yet.

In my case, I was leaving with people I knew through a kind of gateway that was meant to take us home. I don't... know if their not being here means I was the only one who got lost on the way, or they all did but they didn't turn up here.

[It's a problem. She bites her lip.] I guess there's no way of finding out for sure.

None save waiting, I suppose. It's not a very reassuring fact. [ ... ] For what it's worth -- and as others tell it -- this place doesn't seem quite so awful.

[She gives a wry grin.]

Well, it has decent food and running water for a start. Those are definitely things I missed.

Nope. Pretty horrid for those of us who like our luxury.
