file 004

Who: Orion and YOU
Broadcast: Voice
Action: Iskaulit
When: 9/25

[there's a shift and some crackling, as he's adjusting his position. it sounds like he's moving some things around.]

... Two questions.

One, who would be the best person to go to about setting up a larger infirmary on the Iskaulit? After what happened, I think it might be better to have some larger area set up. Especially if something ends up happening and we need to quarantine some kind of ailment.

... And two. [and then he pauses, because he doesn't know how to ask the second one. it's not like it's the first time someone's left, but..]

Does anyone know what happens to the people who leave? A theory, a guess... Anything? Going home is supposed to be the prize for winning at the end of the show, isn't it?

[ADDED LATER:]

... Just an added note, if anyone has any skill in blacksmithing, I could use your help.

Dr. Crusher here, SS Blue Fish. I see Allen and Dr. Keller have already spoken to you about the limitations we have run into when we discussed the opening of a central clinic before, so I see no need to repeat what they have already told you. We are interested, we just haven't found a feasible working plan yet.

However, as to your other question... for a couple of months there was someone here from my universe, who came from a point in my future. He remembered meeting me in that future, so presumably I go home at some point. Or at least, there's some version of me in existence there.

[She nods.]

I know. It is... disconcerting. Time travel is complicated enough, but once you start throwing in parallel universes and alternate realities, it gives me a headache.

That hasn't happened to me here, not yet anyway, but it has at home. Theoretically, there are an infinite number of parallel universes, each following a different historical path - a war happens in this one that doesn't in another, someone makes a choice here and a different one there - sometimes leading to huge differences between two given universes, other times only minor ones. So I suppose it makes sense there would be other versions of ourselves out there, but still.
