[he turns back to the mirror so he can hold a pair of earrings up at different levels on his ears, comparing his options.

he's obviously feeling better, despite his eyes being pretty red and watery. the boost from being healthy again and in contact with people he knows counts for a lot.]

What do you think looks good?

[he reaches around him to pinch the lower cartilage of his left ear.]

You could make them match. Up here is cute too-- but you need smaller earrings.

[his ears totally twitch, and one even flattens back a little, as Robin pokes at them.]

Oh, yeah. I guess that would, like... dangle right into my ear.

[haha, he laughs.]

Very ticklish. So distracting...

[he plucks at a couple of the feathers on the boa too, leaning lightly on Nel's shoulder while he straightens them out...]

You know, I just think it would be a shame for you to not wear this around your ship.

[he poses in the mirror a little, with what movement he can get way with under Robin leaning like that. one hand on hip, admiring his own flaunty reflection.

and then he turns with a smirk and a glance, and drags the tickly end of the feather wand along the underside of Robin's jaw without warning.]

I was thinking about getting this instead.

Hey, hey. None of that.

[he's not super-ticklish, but anyone would feel tickly feathers under their chin. he'll make a quick grab for the wand and, if he gets it, try to tickle him back!]

[and much to the shopowner's annoyance, the feather-boa aisle is filled with stupid, girly laughter as Nel loses the wand to his attacker.

just dumb giggling. it's embarrassing.]

[it's pretty cute. he can't help chuckling too--but he will at least let up on the tickling.]

I will buy you a boa and a set of earrings, but you have to get the wand on your own time. Got it?

[the thought of acquiring new, pretty things is definitely a thrill. he might end up losing both presents within the span of a week, but he'll enjoy them in the meantime.]

Definitely a red boa. The earrings, though... Show me your favorites.

[he'll stop leaning on Nel to look at what they've actually got around here; he was originally hoping maybe they'd have leather something that's not hideous, but who knows...]

[unfortunately, most of the leather things can be found in other shops. this one seems to specialize in feathers.

and he holds up little earrings with a simple puff of stringy feathers hanging from each one. the one he's currently got is a lovely shade of blinding neon green.]

I like these... but I don't know if they'd go with the red.

That is pretty blinding... What about orange?

[he points! there are some similar orange ones right there.]

Haha, did you see any boas in black?

There's like... one black boa in the back over there.

[he nods in the direction of one of the racks, and then swaps out holding up the green ones for the suggested orange ones.]

...These ones are close to my hair color, though.

Oh, you're right...

[he walks to the back, because he wants to find that boa. he'll call over his shoulder, though--]

...Maybe the green one anyway? You can look like a pretty poppy or something. [almost immediately:] That's the name of a flower.

Yeah, okay.

[dooping around with the earrings for a minute, hanging a pair of hooked ones on the upper edge of his ear where he doesn't have any piercings yet]

Or I could dye my hair.

[he's still in the back. give him a minute...]

[that's fine. he'll just be here staring at his own reflection]

No, like... to make it not orange.

[then it won't be the same as the earrings and everything will be fine. that makes sense, right?]

[Robin walks back and shows up in Nel's reflection--with a stupid black feather boa wrapped all around his neck.]

My hair, or--

[oop! but then he catches sight of Robin and laughs! but it's a good, surprised laugh instead of anything else.]

Hey! Looks good!

Thank you. [he leans up to fluff his boa a little...] Your hair, I was talking about your hair. Purple.

Oh!

[back to the mirror! where he can fidget with his hair and see them both at the same time.]

...Wow, I don't think I've done purple before.

I don't know how it'd go with the boa, but it might be cute with all of that green, and your pretty eyes...

[he'll lean over his shoulder, move his bangs around a little... doting, basically.]

[and he leans back, looks obviously appreciative--as cute as he can get--and just devours the attention.]
