[ and katara, sort of lost in her own little world as she skims through messages on her communicator, will promptly hand him a wrench. it's not even kind of close, katara. you didn't even try at all. ]

[He'll take it, notice the weights off, pull it back and SQUINT. ]

Uh. Katara. Screwdriver, not wrench. It's the long one with the squished end.

I know what a screwdriver is, Sokka.

[ it's said with exasperation... before she actually looks at the tool she's just handed him and sighs. ]

-- or maybe I don't. Sorry, here.

[ and she'll pass the right one over. finally. ]

What are you working on, anyway?

Nothing much, just trying to improve stuff. We got hit hard by that nebula and I wanna make sure we don't suffer too much if it happens again.

[He pauses in his work, casting her a concerned look.]

...You okay?

[kyasdaughter]

Smart. [ and she means it. she admires the hell out of her brother. she always has, really - but seeing him step up as captain has done a lot to foster that sense of pride. ] And -- yeah. Zuko coming back has just given me a lot to think about, I guess.

I try.

[The tone is cocky, but the smile is genuine. He genuinely does want to be a good leader for all of them. Prove his worth. The smile soon fades, though.]

Yeah. It's...weird. How quickly people can come and go here. Like...like it's nothing for them.

Have you talked to him about Adstringendum?

[ she's struggling less with the word than she thought she would, and she clicks her tongue thoughtfully. ]

It's one place I hadn't heard of yet.
