[It's been a few weeks since Archimonde's downfall. Since the collapse of the Iron Horde. It was a good moment, hard-won, but Adrasteius hasn't felt celebratory. The battle had ended in triumph, yes, but also a warning. Something is coming. Something that keeps Adrasteius from sleep, that keeps him up late fiddling with wards, praying to the Light. Keeps him staring at the sky with unease threading through all of his brittle bones.

But all living things must sleep, eventually, and he's no exception.

When he wakes up, he expects to see his wife; possibly some children, crept in after nightmares. Instead, he's alone. The room is stark, chilly, sterile.

Familiar.]

Oh, for the Light's sake.

[He rolls over, groaning. This again. Lying flat on his belly, but with his face turned upwards, he addresses the camera.]

Bal'a dash, everybody. If we haven't spoken, I'm Adrasteius. If we have--

[He sits up, albeit with obvious effort. It's hard to be old, even for an elf.]

--nice to see you again. Probably.

[Adrasteius runs a hand through his feathery blonde hair.]

[He wiggles his fingers, which glow with the Light.]

[ Hah! She can do that too! Except hers seems to sparkle rather than glow; cosmic energy. ]

I do, too. They said you were similar. After that attack by the ships.

[Adra shuts one eye.]

Similar, maybe, but that looks a little different than what I'm used to.

[punchingly]

Astrally aligned healing, not elemental.

[ As if this makes any sense at all to anyone not from Eorzea. ]

[hymnals]

[It's complete jargon! But he smiles indulgently, anyway.]

So long as it works, eh?

[punchingly]

[ Nods; don't encourage her she'll blather stars all day ]

Back home, to Azeroth.

[punchingly]

...I do not think we come from the same world.

[hymnals]

Sister, I figured that out from word one.

[punchingly]

[ She laughs, quietly, and waves a hand -- sort of in the ear direction. ]

You could be an Elezen.

[hymnals]

Whatever the fuck that is!

[punchingly]

They are tall people, graceful. They populate Ishgard.

[ Nodding politely. ] But perhaps you are not so... [ hmmmmmmmm :|a ] eager to kill dragons?

[hymnals]

I'm demonstrably not tall.

[He pans the video over his scrawny little body.]

I don't know that I could be accused of grace, either. Or dragon-killing. I'm not really about killing.

[punchingly]

Me neither. But Ishgard has always been in a war with dragons. Sometimes they do not feel as if they have a choice.

[hymnals]

We've had some issues with dragons. Well. A dragon. [He shrugs.] But that's done. Plenty of other things out to destroy the world, though.

[punchingly]

We have had problems with a specific dragon. Unfortunately...

[ unfortunately he brought himself back to life by consuming a person it was all complicated and really the guy maybe deserved it for being such of a dick but still STILL ]

It is not done attempting to destroy the world.

[hymnals]

Sounds like a real pickle. Not a damn thing you can do about right now, though, eh?

[punchingly]

Only hope that the people who are left behind can beat him without us.

[ She does not sound incredibly concerned though; Warriors of Light will generally be fine on their own. ]

And I suppose...be entertaining. And go...home? [ The skepticism is real ]

[hymnals]

I went home once. Light willing, it'll happen again. To all of us.

[punchingly]

Light?

[ what's that ]

I hope so. I miss my husband.

[hymnals]

It's an oath. You know. Religion. Do you have that on your planet? Surely you do.

[He sighs, running a hand through his hair. He's being a little rude, he knows, but all the talk of home makes him distressed.]

Yeah. I've got a wife, kids.

[punchingly]

Mm. Hydaelyn. The all made one. And then, the Twelve.

[ Nodding! She doesn't seem to mind; she has the look of someone who has great patience with rude people from personal experience. ]

I am not sure if we could have...children? [ She laughs ] But I still miss him. Perhaps he will come here.

[hymnals]

[SOUNDS LIKE NONSENSE. But Adra well remembers getting in trouble re: subjects of religion last time he was here, and while he doesn't shy away from that, he doesn't find it productive to run his mouth on the topic right now.

Besides, kids are a much better subject.]

Four kids. One of'em's running around here. What's stopping the two of you?

He's rather, um...

[ How does one explain that their marriage was already taboo by being the unholy union of two completely different races?? Probably by saying just that... ]

[He raises an eyebrow.]
