Has... anyone else been having weird dreams lately, or just me?

Also, what do people do for fun around here? This is the longest I've ever been cooped up in one place. At least if there was something to do...

Anyway, I'm sick of meditating. If anyone wants to come chat or keep me company, I'm sitting in the living area. Does anyone know if they have a dejarik board around here? I'm not much good at it, but it's a good time waster at least.

Oh-- right. I'm always up for a spar, too... if you think you can keep up.

Depends on what you define as "interesting."

Several people seem to remember having weird dreams, but just as many don't. I can't find any commonality between the two, either.

I wasn't talking about something so broad. [She looks at Ahsoka now.]

[Ahsoka just nods.]

... I think I saw some things of yours, too.

You did. [Octavia brings her feet up on the couch, arms encircling her knees.]

Guess you saw my mom, huh? [Now she seems smaller than usual in some way. Maybe more vulnerable.] That's what being floated is. A lot of that happened.

... I'm so sorry. That was... it was awful.

Yeah. It's a shitty way to go. [She rests her chin on her knees, looking across the common area.]

But how you started out? That's how it was for me. Whenever there was an inspection, I'd have to hide under the floor. I never actually left our quarters until I was sixteen. Then I was caught.

What? ... How did you survive?

Criminals under eighteen are sent to lock up until their birthday. Then they're given a trial to see whether they'll go back to regular society or... well, you know. Unless you mean up until then, which was only through Mom and Bell sharing their already shitty rations with me.

[She raises the bottle in mock salute before taking another drink.]

This place must seem like a dream in comparison.

A funny choice of words right now. [She just shrugs.]

Back home on Earth was tough, but I could do things. I had Bell and my friends. Here, it's something else, yeah, but I've got no one I can really count on like that. We'd been through some shit, and that's not something you can just replace.

[After a pause, Ahsoka nods. She feels much the same about the Clone Wars and the Order.]

... I can appreciate that.

You seem like someone who could. [It's easy enough to acknowledge that with her, after what she'd seen in Ahsoka's dream. Octavia leans against the back of the couch, hands still resting on her knees.]

It's not like I'm whining about it, I can do fine without them. They just make things a whole lot easier, you know?

... Yes. I do.

Maybe it won't be the same, but... I hope you find some people you can depend upon here soon.

[A thin smile appears and she huffs out a small laugh.] Don't worry, I have. I got lucky.

... Good. I'm glad.

You deserve it, Octavia.

[She shifts a little, the words a little awkward, but not unwelcome. Her eyes flicker back over to Ahsoka.]

Hope you know I'm counting you in that number. And vice-versa, okay?
