Also, what do people do for fun around here? This is the longest I've ever been cooped up in one place. At least if there was something to do...

Anyway, I'm sick of meditating. If anyone wants to come chat or keep me company, I'm sitting in the living area. Does anyone know if they have a dejarik board around here? I'm not much good at it, but it's a good time waster at least.

Well for starters... I'm not really a Jedi any more.

I grew up in the Order. And I was a padawan for several years. But I ended up leaving a few weeks before I woke up here. So. There's that.

It... depends on your perspective. Maybe it's a both thing?

But you asked where being a Jedi put me, so I had to answer honestly.

Ok. Kinda wasn't sure because on one hand, it sounds like being a Jedi is a big deal.

On the other, if you chose to leave, maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Being a Jedi is... it's an important calling. But it's not something you can just do half hearted. It's a way of life, you know? You have to be completely dedicated to it.

And I didn't feel like I could dedicate myself to it any more. That's all.

[That's a vague way of putting it, but the truth is kind of heavy for a first conversation.]

Well, no. But I used to be a knight before I quit. Wasn't ever the most dedicated to it, but the rest of the universe liked to make it sound special.

I-- I still think being a Jedi is special. It just... wasn't how I thought it was supposed to be.

Why did you quit? ... If you don't mind my asking.

Uh, it's complicated. And kind of lame, to be honest. I guess part of it's that I had to quit, and it was easier if it was on my terms. But, mostly, [and it's almost a little embarrassed] I don't think I was that great at it. I mean I'm not even sure if I even wanted to be a knight in the first place, or if it was out of a warped sense of obligation to what I felt I had to do. So, after the way it turned out...

It doesn't really matter. Once I played my part, no one really needed me anymore. So I quit and let the next guy take over.

Well... that just means you get to find a new thing to be good at.

I already know what I'm good at. For me, it's more a case of finding new ways to do that outside the system.

I just meant-- there are planets out there that need help but don't get any. Neutral planets that refuse to participate in the war or pick a side. As a result, they're getting more refugees than they know how to handle, and more civic unrest as a result of that. In addition to that, the protection and trade that their planets would normally receive from the Republic has been withdrawn for the duration of the war, leaving many planets who depended upon the Republic either in dire economic straits or totally defenseless.

Naturally, the Jedi aren't allowed to go to those planets on official business since they're allied with the Republic. But as a free agent... I could go where I please. Those people need help too. They shouldn't be left by the wayside for the crime of choosing peace.
