[ zuko is sitting on a couch playing what appears to be super mario bros. The old school nes version, naturally, and zuko has discovered that 1) video games are amazing and 2) he isn't actually terrible at them.
what zuko is terrible at, however, is controlling his sheer disbelief that the knowledge that all mario needs to do in order to firebend is eat a flower. is that it? seriously??? if it were that easy in his universe, he wouldn't have had to climb up a goddamn mountain in order to regain his skills and talk to a freaking dragon. he would happily --
but his inner monologue is interrupted when zuko finally makes it to the castle, and he looks pretty satisfied with himself at beating this thing (eat shit bowser!!) but then -- ]

[ ARE YOU SERIOUS and the nes controller is thrown at the ground in a huff. ]
I went through three firebending flowers for that? Unbelievable -- !

[Certain words are more high pitched and emphasized than others. With a hand clutching the spot on her head that received the Beat down, Toph stands up, the occasional stomp shaking the area where Zuko's seated as she heads over to the kitchen. Even she knows ice would be good right now.]
She's probably in another castle to get away from you!
action;
Careful -- quit earthbending!
[ GOD TOPH YOU'RE GOING TO KNOCK OVER THE COUCH and zuko, once he's steady, immediately gets up to follow her. because

[ can you even reach the freezer ]
action;
[Toph knows enough to be aware the ice is in the freezer, and she knows the freezer's on the bottom of the fridge. Now she's standing there with the freezer door open, mist swirling around her, completely unsure what to do next. Of course, she's still rubbing her head.]
I know you're following me, Zuko! Stop it!
action;
... augh. ]
... there's an ice pack near your right hand.
[ after some
tiny inching forward and peering around her ]
action;
Top turns around to face him, stuff huffing, giant ass bag of frozen meat tenders balanced on her head.]
That really hurt. [Her tone's still angry, but not directed at him anymore.]
action;
I know, I'm -- here, this one is better.
[ as he holds it out to her, nudging her hand with it so she can take the actual ice pack. he's not being blamed for allowing the blind girl to walk around with chicken nuggets on her head, okay. ]
I didn't mean to hit you with it.
action;
I know. Sorry for yelling at you like that. [Her words are mumbled, but still sincere. That's Toph.]
action;
You don't have to apologize -- I'm the one who hurt you.
[ pause, and a little dryly ]
Besides, I'm used to it.
action;
[The ice pack's balance precariously on her head as she moves and takes a seat on the cushions.]
action;
You won't want to leave that on too long.
[ the last thing he needs is katara bitching at him that he let the blind kid get frost bite ]

[Seriously, she's glad he didn't hurt her feet again.]
