Who: weiss schnee and you?!
Broadcast: fleetwide
Action: the marsiva
When: today
[ why hello there, fleetians. this broadcast is brought to you by the letter W, as in WHY THIS WHY ME. which is, coincidentally enough, one of the many thoughts buzzing through weiss' mind ever since she'd woken up to find herself in space. though she supposes after a "digital" space, regular space shouldn't be too difficult to adjust to. boy, is she trying.
she might actually look familiar to some of you — there had definitely been an accidental broadcast or two of her as she fumbled through her first few hours on marsiva — mostly boring stuff like meticulously combing through any and all information she could find on her communicator (and taking an extensive amount of notes on them), stuffing her face into a pillow and screaming at the top of her lungs, and staring into a mirror and giving herself a pep talk in an attempt to Get a Grip.
apparently the Grip has been Gotten (or maybe she just grew impatient), for now she's making her first broadcast, a pleasant smile plastered on her face. ]
Good ev— [ she pauses, glancing briefly to the side; how does one even tell time in space.... ] — Greetings. [ her smile becomes just a touch more strained. ]
My name is Weiss Schnee. As the newest Communications Officer of the S.S. Three Twins, I thought it was prudent to introduce myself to the rest of the ship. I can't say I have much experience in the area of... space pioneering — [ or reality tv star, for that matter, but she's pointedly choosing to Ignore that bit of the deal thankyouverymuch ] — but when it comes to diplomacy and intermediation, I have an extensive background.
[ a brief pause. shoot, she's already forgotten her place. best to just wrap this up..! ]
It's a pleasure to make all your acquaintances. I look forward to working with you all.
[ another pause, and then she suddenly remembers—! ]
Oh, and if anyone might know where I can get some binders, I'd really appreciate the tip.
[ from the looks of it, she'll probably be needing more than one... ]

you can practically visualise the eyerolling here... ]
Yeah, I guess you can try, but I don't think Atroma's going to give you binders. Atroma's not useful in a practical way. [ Or useful at all. He's inclined to be mistrustful of someone who shoves him in a physical body and jams an augment directly into what passes for his brain and won't ask for anything if he can possibly help it. ]
no subject
Oh, wonderful. [ the disdain is practically tangible. ] Here I thought I'd escaped entrapment from a useless authority. Nice to know another such system exists.
no subject
Hey, you got put on a spaceship for the entertainment of viewers. We're basically a live broadcast all the time. So if you expected our grand authority to be any use, you're out of luck.
no subject
but anyway, she just gives out a long-suffering sigh. ] I suppose I should have known better by now.
no subject
You sound like you're used to this kind of thing.
no subject
This is hardly my first time. [ a fact she does not sound happy about. at all. ] Though I must say it's nice to hear my world hasn't been destroyed by alien races this time. [ she knew they were full of it..! ]
no subject
He's a responsible adult. ]
Huh, is that so? That's pretty tough. [ ...He actually sounds genuine about it. ] At least it seems to be better this time. [ Even if it is reality tv. ]
no subject
but ah, she certainly takes note of the earnestness in his tone... and it makes her shift a little. this sudden change in gears is a little jarring. ]
To an extent. I don't know if I appreciate being made into a spectacle.
no subject
The more he talks to this girl, the more he's reminded of Ann...It's kind of nostalgic. ]
I guess being a spectacle's better than your whole world being gone. [ It's a little scary to think about, but he's not going to say that...(Even though it kind of happened, a bit). ] Not by much, but it's a step up.
no subject
but anyway... he's got a point, doesn't he? certainly, there's no real way of knowing if that's true; it's probably better to take everything the authorities here say with a grain of salt, after all. but it's at least a nicer lie to be told, if a lie at all. ]
But you have a point. If my being made into a public image is the price to pay for the safety of my world, then it's one I can definitely pay. [ her lips twist a little sardonically. it's not as if she's a stranger to that concept... being an heiress definitely has its pros and cons. ]
no subject
It's kind of troublesome, but there's probably worse things. Hopefully everything's running along fine back home, though. [ Jack has his friends to keep him in line for now....it's fine...probably ]
no subject
Yes... about that. I assume there's no way to know for sure, is there?
