[ why hello there, fleetians. this broadcast is brought to you by the letter W, as in WHY THIS WHY ME. which is, coincidentally enough, one of the many thoughts buzzing through weiss' mind ever since she'd woken up to find herself in space. though she supposes after a "digital" space, regular space shouldn't be too difficult to adjust to. boy, is she trying.

she might actually look familiar to some of you — there had definitely been an accidental broadcast or two of her as she fumbled through her first few hours on marsiva — mostly boring stuff like meticulously combing through any and all information she could find on her communicator (and taking an extensive amount of notes on them), stuffing her face into a pillow and screaming at the top of her lungs, and staring into a mirror and giving herself a pep talk in an attempt to Get a Grip.

apparently the Grip has been Gotten (or maybe she just grew impatient), for now she's making her first broadcast, a pleasant smile plastered on her face. ]

Good ev— [ she pauses, glancing briefly to the side; how does one even tell time in space.... ] — Greetings. [ her smile becomes just a touch more strained. ]

My name is Weiss Schnee. As the newest Communications Officer of the S.S. Three Twins, I thought it was prudent to introduce myself to the rest of the ship. I can't say I have much experience in the area of... space pioneering — [ or reality tv star, for that matter, but she's pointedly choosing to Ignore that bit of the deal thankyouverymuch ] — but when it comes to diplomacy and intermediation, I have an extensive background.

[ a brief pause. shoot, she's already forgotten her place. best to just wrap this up..! ]

[ another pause, and then she suddenly remembers—! ]

Um, not really... I just got here a few days ago, so I'm still kind of new. There's lots of people that have been here for a while though. I think Big Bro said he's been here for a month.

Yeah, he is! But he's on another ship, so I was thinking maybe I could ask if I can transfer to his. Ino-san is really nice, though, so I kind of feel bad about leaving Three Twins.

[ the name "ino" definitely registers, as the members of her crew had been one of the many things weiss thought to research first. ]

As long as you'd feel better with your older brother, I'm sure she'd understand. A good leader would.

Yeah, I hope so! I was gonna ask her later, maybe... once we all get on our assigned ships.

[ anyway, she figures she'd try and help explain things. someone did that for her when she was new, so she might as well pay it forward. ]

Really? I like talking to people, so I guess that'd be something cool to do. But they told me that I'm gonna be a nurse, even though I think I might not be old enough to be an actual nurse.

Well you wouldn't exactly be old enough to be a communications officer, either, [ weiss points out matter-of-factly, but it's hardly malicious! ] but I suppose there's truly no level too low for the authorities here.

Yeah, I was really surprised when Hinata-kun told me about it. But then I saw on someone's post about these implant things we have, so I guess it's okay.

[ tbh she doesn't really know what an implant is, or how it got stuck in her brain without her knowing. ]

Ah, yes... those things. [ while they're certainly helpful, weiss isn't too sure she likes the idea of having been tampered with without her knowledge and consent.

Oh! Being here is okay... Big Bro and Yosuke-niichan are here so it's kind of like I'm back home again.

[ she sounds cheerful enough, but there's some hesitation in there. ]

But, I guess the bad thing is that I dunno how everyone else is doing back home. Like Dad and my other friends. Some people said that when I can go back, it'll be like I never left, but I'm not sure if that's really true.

It certainly is hard to tell, [ she agrees. ] There's no guarantee that everyone's experience will wind up the same, after all.

Big Bro is really cool! He's really nice and caring and he's always there whenever I need help with something. Oh, but he's not actually my brother, he's my cousin from the city. He treats me like I'm his sister, though! I love him a lot.

Yeah! I'm really glad I have Big Bro. After Mom died, Dad and I were really lonely, but things got a lot better after Big Bro came to stay with us. He introduced me to all his friends too!

It sounds like he takes wonderful care of you. You mentioned another friend of yours? I assume he's one of those friends?

Oh, yeah, Yosuke! Him and Big Bro are really good friends! He told me the other day he's on SS Starstruck.

Mm, yeah! It'd be really great if we can all be on one ship, but Big Bro and Yosuke have been here longer than me, so I'm not sure if leaving their ship would make things hard for their crew. Yosuke said he's captain, so um, I think he has to take responsibility for people on his ship.

Ah, that would be quite messy. But I've just been informed that our pilot is more than willing to shuttle you between ships, should the need arise. You can find some comfort in that, at least.
