[ why hello there, fleetians. this broadcast is brought to you by the letter W, as in WHY THIS WHY ME. which is, coincidentally enough, one of the many thoughts buzzing through weiss' mind ever since she'd woken up to find herself in space. though she supposes after a "digital" space, regular space shouldn't be too difficult to adjust to. boy, is she trying.

she might actually look familiar to some of you — there had definitely been an accidental broadcast or two of her as she fumbled through her first few hours on marsiva — mostly boring stuff like meticulously combing through any and all information she could find on her communicator (and taking an extensive amount of notes on them), stuffing her face into a pillow and screaming at the top of her lungs, and staring into a mirror and giving herself a pep talk in an attempt to Get a Grip.

apparently the Grip has been Gotten (or maybe she just grew impatient), for now she's making her first broadcast, a pleasant smile plastered on her face. ]

Good ev— [ she pauses, glancing briefly to the side; how does one even tell time in space.... ] — Greetings. [ her smile becomes just a touch more strained. ]

My name is Weiss Schnee. As the newest Communications Officer of the S.S. Three Twins, I thought it was prudent to introduce myself to the rest of the ship. I can't say I have much experience in the area of... space pioneering — [ or reality tv star, for that matter, but she's pointedly choosing to Ignore that bit of the deal thankyouverymuch ] — but when it comes to diplomacy and intermediation, I have an extensive background.

[ a brief pause. shoot, she's already forgotten her place. best to just wrap this up..! ]

[ another pause, and then she suddenly remembers—! ]

Oh, and if anyone might know where I can get some binders, I'd really appreciate the tip.

[ from the looks of it, she'll probably be needing more than one... ]

[He stares her down for a moment, seriously. As if she said the wrong thing.

...Except after a few seconds, it may seem clearer that he's trying to hold back some laughter.]

[Then finally, he cracks a smile and shrugs.]

[ she'd looked Quite Worried for a while there, but she seems to relax when he smiles. it wasn't the best, but it was worth a shot, and she's glad he seems to have appreciated it enough to just roll with it.

she stifles her own smile with a playful wrinkle of her nose, as if Disapproving, before turning both their attentions back to the real matter at hand here. ]

So you were going to show me how to make a paper airplane? Is there some prep work I should be doing first?

[Things do feel a little awkward, and he doesn't think he's exactly a hundred percent comfortable... but he at least feels the need to appreciate her attempt to lighten the atmosphere. Especially with a ~~horrible~~ good taste in jokes.

Now he just smirks and looks over one of the papers before he goes on sarcastically.]

Prep work you say? Oh yeah, you have to run laps and do fifty finger push-ups first.

[ weiss is more than aware that not everything is well yet... but it's a step, isn't it? it has to be.

but now is not the time to dwell!! now is the time to gawk at kurt, a hushed silence falling over her for a moment before hastily whispering, ] Really?

[Then he matches his tone to answer her back with an urgent whisper.]

No, I'm joking with you! [Now he's definitely grinning.]

[ her cheeks flush a bright red in embarrassment, and she reaches out to shove at his shoulder in her frustration. how dare u! ]

I would have done it, you know! I'm not some weakling.

[ hmph! ]

[Wow Weiss, how do you know his bones aren't made of paper?! Okay, maybe his body doesn't collapse from the shove. He just stumbles back a little, still smiling, and then raising his hands apologetically.]

Sorry, sorry! I didn't meant to say you couldn't... Just it's just definitely a lot more effort than you need to fold a paper airplane!

[ she huffs and sets her hand on her hips. prissy princess mode: ACTIVATED. ]

Just show me how to do it already!

[He just scoffs and waves a hand.]

Well excuuuse me! [He's still being a little teasing though.]

Fine, we'll cut right to the chase. It's not really all that exciting... You just have to know the right way to fold it!

[He holds up a piece of paper and starts to demonstrate the first fold.]

[ with a small gasp, weiss hastily plucks up a paper of her own, eyes darting between his fold and hers, attempting to perfectly mimic his gestures. ]

Hold on, hold on — not too fast..!

Ohhh, you mean we're not racing? [He says that even more teasingly, but he certainly does stop to make sure she catches up.]

[ she throws him a sharp look at that, but it softens into something more concentrated as she notices he's stopped to let her catch up. she double- and triple-checks to make sure both her paper and his look exactly the same...

then nods. ]

Okay. You may continue.

[She really is thorough. He gives an amused smirk, then it turns cheeky at her instructions.]

Yes, your highness! [He says with a sarcastic bow before he gets back to his paper.] Now we're ready for the final steps...

[ he'll get an unamused look at that, TYVM. but she does sound mildly worried at his next words. ]

Final? Are we already at the end??

Almost! I mean, there's not that much to it... it's not paper rock science, you know.

[ don't sass her, boy... though she does feel a bit silly now, to have taken it so seriously. ]

While it might not be that, it's still no excuse to scrimp on effort. [ hmph! ]

[He will sass all he wants!!]

Yeah, yeah, I get it... Attention to crafstmanship still goes a long way! Still, we don't have much further to go.
