[At least two weeks have passed since the Drift Fleet passengers woke up on this strange wing of the Marsiva... Some new passengers have even joined the group instead of being Shuffled off to a fleet ship! The large monitor in the central room remains quiet for now, so how is everyone holding up?

Have you been relaxing? Enjoying the Earth media? If you can even remember them, how have Calibrations been treating you? Has anyone started getting a little stir-crazy?

He's focusing on something or other, probably the location of the lost crew members, his tongue sticking out in concentration when he realises he's being watched. He stops, turns and stares at her, somewhat awkwardly.]

[He chuckles a little at the panic and shakes his head, gesturing for her to come back with a flick of his hand. ]

Nah. I'm just writing up notes in case Beau or Diamons decide to grace us with their lovely presence again. I don't wanna be caught out by them giving non-answers.

[ she doesn't hesitate to shift closer once she's given the apparent OK. her long hair actually trails over a shoulder as she leans forward to get a closer look at his scribbles. she hadn't gotten a good enough look the last time to really be able to read his words, but now that she's given permission... ]

Ah, right... I'd read about those two. [ briefly. sparingly. it might be due to her newcomer status, but for some reason her communicator refuses to cooperate with her for most of her researching. ]

So this is meant to be... strategy?

Yeaaah, they show up every couple weeks or so, give a cruddy announcement and then vanish. This is the first time they've ever actually talked back to us.

[He nods, tapping the pen on his chin thoughtfully. ]

I want to make sue I ask them a question they can't give a non-answer to.

[ she makes a low, understanding sound at his frustration. thanks to her time in cerealia, she certainly knows a thing or two about dodgy "authorities"... try getting into an intense letter-writing battle with one, sokka, and getting absolutely nowhere in the end. weiss definitely feels this pain.

after a brief sigh, she puts on an encouraging smile, turning towards him. ]

Well, should you ever need a soundboard for your ideas, I'd be happy to help. My family's in business, after all — I know a thing or two about slippery customers.

[Whining is a go. He might be a touch sensitive about this. ]

I'm nineteen! That's waaaaay past what's considered an adult in my tribe. Way, way past.

My mistake — [ though she still looks mildly dubious ] — what age is considered adulthood in your... tribe?

[It absolutely is not, and yet, he continues. It's a vicious cycle, really. ]

Sixteen! I know that's young for some people, heck, it's young for some places in my world. But for us, that's...just how it is.

[ weiss takes a moment to consider this. ]

No, I don't suppose it's that odd. In my world, seventeen is the age you're allowed to begin training to be a Hunter and Huntress [ unless your name happens to be ruby rose ] so it isn't too unreasonable.

Oh yeah, we learn hunting way earlier, but we live in the South Pole. We got to hunt to eat.

[ south pole........................... even after so many months in cerealia, learning about #differentworlds is still so strange. but that makes sense, the more she thinks about. hunting to eat... tribes... it all sounds — well. rather primitive, really, but it's a testament to how much she's learned to be self-aware about these things (sadly, it isn't that much) that she knows not to say as much out loud. ]

It's a tad different in my world. Hunters and Huntresses take down Grimm, which are essentially monsters that thrive on negativity.

[Good going on her part, he's had enough of that attitude from back home, let alone the Fleet, tyvm. ]

Oh. Well. Yeah. That's definitely different.

But they both seem very equally important! All about the idea of survival, and whatnot.

[ a brief, strained laugh. ]

That's true, but for us it's stuff to eat and for you it's...to stop being eaten.

...I'm guessing, anyway?

I wouldn't... phrase it quite so crudely, but essentially, yes. [ she clicks her tongue a little. ]

Either way, not everyone is qualified to Hunt Grimm.

I take it you have to have special training? Do the monsters have special ways to get killed?

[multiglyphs]

Well... something like that. The Grimm can only be destroyed by Aura, and not everyone can tap into theirs enough to weaponize it.
