At least there's no elevator music...
[At least two weeks have passed since the Drift Fleet passengers woke up on this strange wing of the Marsiva... Some new passengers have even joined the group instead of being Shuffled off to a fleet ship! The large monitor in the central room remains quiet for now, so how is everyone holding up?
Have you been relaxing? Enjoying the Earth media? If you can even remember them, how have Calibrations been treating you? Has anyone started getting a little stir-crazy?
Don't worry... This ship has no shortage of mysteries, and you'll be seeing a few more soon.]
ooc: here's another mingle for the current game event! players can start or continue threads here from any point during the event. the additional setting information is still being postponed due to sickly mods, but y'all are welcome to post additional topcomments for reactions and investigation once it's up!

That kind of drive and dedication must come from somewhere. Do you have a background in combat?
no subject
[He rubs his neck]
Well, yes. I'm an Exorcist- er, I fight...demons? [Or something close to them anyway] Not that there's much work for that out here.
no subject
blink blink.
not wanting to look too out of her element, weiss just. likens his "demons" to her "grimm." ]
We have something in common, then. [ ... ] To an extent, at least. Of course, I doubt I'll have to deal with any Grimm here, but it's always nice to be prepared, right?
no subject
[He blinks, curious. Also, so seizing a chance to know something about this girl]
What's that?
no subject
Grimm are soulless creatures of darkness in my world. It's the job of a Hunter and Huntress to eliminate them. I'm currently attending school to become a Huntress, though I've been training for years now.
[ though she certainly doesn't look like she should be going out and fighting monsters... let alone look as if she were even capable of it. ]
no subject
[Honestly doesn't sound too different from Exorcism. and he's not about to judge her looks. He's seen a lot of fighters in all shapes and sizes]
I didn't know any worlds had schools for that sort of thing.
no subject
[ aka she's a nerd ]
no subject
Yeah...it sounds like it would be really helpful.
In my world, there's not enough Exorcists to build a school, but...all of us have to go under an apprenticeship before we earn a full title.
no subject
Can anyone in your world become an Exorcist? Or is there a special skill someone has to possess?
no subject
Not anyone, no. You have to be able to use a special kind of weapon- and that weapon chooses its wielder?
Unfortunately, it's very picky. So Exorcists are rather rare.
no subject
I can see why it would be a bit of a trial to advance. Similarly, Hunters and Huntresses must have the ability to tap into their Aura — which is just a fancy way of saying a manifestation of the soul, really — in order to be effective against the Grimm. But there are quite a number of those capable. Of course, each Semblance is unique.
no subject
[Honestly, it sounds like a mix of a keyblade and Innocence- except maybe more of them since Keybladers seem rare too]
What's your Semblance?
no subject
[ as if she'd been ready for this question, weiss makes an idle gesture with her hand — nothing more than a flick of the wrist, really — and suddenly there appears a large, glowing white glyph hovering just a behind her. with another flick of her wrist, it burns black in color.
a few seconds later, she drops her hand, and the glyph disappears. ]
It's much more impressive in action, I assure you. [ but she's a bit hesitant to use them to their full capacity in such a small space.
she sighs a little, arms folding under her bust. ]
Unfortunately, I'd woken up here without my sword and Dust.
no subject
I believe you! It looks great!
But...ah, yeah. They tend to take weapons from people if they can.
no subject
It's a little suspicious, isn't it?
no subject
[It belonged to someone important. Sure, he managed to find a replacement on another planet, but he still wanted that sword back]
On the other hand...as a medic, I'll admit it's a little relieving to not have so many weapons around.
no subject
I should hope anyone who has a weapon would know how to wield it... [ she pauses a little. ] Unless you mean in-fighting. Is that a problem here?
no subject
In-fighting, yeah.
I haven't noticed it here as much, but it was a regular problem in the last place I was in. A lot of the injuries I treated came from just that.
no subject
This isn't your first time either...?
no subject
[He was about to answer that as he normally does, then he catches that last word]
- Either?
no subject
I was somewhere else, before this. A few months, at most, but... [ a sigh. ] I suppose it could have always been worse.
no subject
[That makes him frown with interest. Another person taken by these worlds. How many were there...?]
Which place was that? I was at Paradisa.
no subject
I was taken to a place called Cerealia. Supposedly somewhere in space, as well, but the hosts then were nice enough to inform us all that our own worlds had been previously destroyed.
no subject
[He frowns]
But that's not the first world I've heard make that claim. Was it true?
no subject
As for the claim, there was no way to really know for sure. The authorities would insist, of course, but I'd spoken to people who've been able to go back home for a time, only to wind up back in Cerealia.
