[At least two weeks have passed since the Drift Fleet passengers woke up on this strange wing of the Marsiva... Some new passengers have even joined the group instead of being Shuffled off to a fleet ship! The large monitor in the central room remains quiet for now, so how is everyone holding up?

Have you been relaxing? Enjoying the Earth media? If you can even remember them, how have Calibrations been treating you? Has anyone started getting a little stir-crazy?

Don't worry... This ship has no shortage of mysteries, and you'll be seeing a few more soon.]

[Oh, thank God. Joseph could not look more relieved! He can do this easier. Much easier. He can grab at a bunch of his favorites! Well. Except the ones that are just out of reach. Those he needs to lean or crawl a little closer towards to show her, but he'll make it work. He's more focused on chattering away about them to really mind taking the extra step.]

Granny got me this bear once when I was sick and its fur is really, really, really soft. And I like this airplane a lot because my father flew one like it. And I like these marbles because Uncle Speedwagon brought them back from America. Oh and these tinker toys! I don't really like the toy cars that much, but I really like this one 'cause Granny got it for my birthday last year. Ooh, ooh, and it's outside actually, but Granny got me a shiny, red wagon for Christmas last year that I like playing with outside! It can carry lots of stuff in it and sometimes I ride in it while Granny pulls when we go places.

Oh, and check this one out! [He's currently winding up the string on a gyroscope.] Hold out your finger! It's a really neat trick Uncle Speedwagon showed me!

[ She can't help but laugh a little good-naturedly at his enthusiasm. She can really see why he's so spoiled, now -- she kinda wants to spoil him a lot, too.

She'll tuck her bangs behind her ear and hold out her finger like he asked, though ]

What's this one called?

A gyroscope.

[He manages to say it mostly without stumbling over it. It's a big word and he's missing a front tooth. Cut him some slack.]

[But okay, he pulls the string once he gets it wound up to get the center spinning. And then he places it on the tip of her finger to let it spin and balance there with a wide grin.]

Neat, huh!?

[Because this must be the coolest thing she's ever seen. It's definitely up there for him. Top ten at least.]

[ She's actually never seen one before, so -- she is pretty impressed! ]

Wow! That is neat!

[ She's watching it, to figure out how it works ... ]

Will it balance on anything?

Mmmhm!

[There is some enthusiastic nodding to go with it.]

I even got it to balance on the string once.

[With some help, but with the level of pride he's carrying right now you'd probably never know it.]

On the string, huh ... ? That must be tough, since it's so thin.

[ Well ... she's not above being the entertainment for a moment. She'll lift her finger up and down while it spins on it to test its weight ... before she pops it up into the air with her finger, tilting her head back to catch it and let it balance it on her nose ]

Ha!

[Joseph gasps when she tosses it up it up in the air, following it's trajectory and blinking for a moment when it lands on her nose. Whatever shyness was there before has most definitely and completely evaporated as he crawls forward, leaning his face in close to see because what did you do???]

Whoa! How'd you do that!?

Hehe ...

[ She'll tilt her head forward to let it drop back onto her finger, where she keeps it balanced now ]

Wanna try? I bet you can balance it on your nose, too.

[Joseph's eyes widen as he nods vigorously.]

Yeah! Yeah! I wanna try!

[This is the most exciting thing that's happened to him all week, wow.]

Okay, tilt your head back a little, and hold very still.

[ She'll scoot a little closer and get up on her knees to hover over him a little, so she can drop the gyroscope onto his face once he's in position ]

[Tilting his head back is easy, it's the holding still part that's a little more difficult. But he makes his little hands into fists to try and remember to stay still and--!!!]

Hey! I'm doing it!

[He couldn't have a wider grin even if he tried.]

[ino]

[ She's grinning, too. ]

You totally are.

[ She'll move her hands back even further, to show him that she's not doing anything with her hands to keep it on there ]

See?

[This is the coolest moment of his life currently. Holy crap.]

I'm gonna practice and be as good at as you at it! And then I'll show Granny and Uncle Speedwagon!

[There's a 50/50 chance that would actually hold true or not. He does have a low frustration tolerance, buuuuut it's a pretty neat trick and who knows when it'll come in handy?]

I'm sure they'll be very impressed.

[ She looks proud of him! ]

As long as you hold still like that again, of course.

[Without thinking, Joseph nods with enthusiasm because of course he can hold still like that again. This has the downside of making the gyroscope fall to the floor to which Joseph looks utterly shocked. Fortunately, he's not that upset about it since it was an accident on his part.]

Oops...

[ She laughs a little good-naturedly ]

Oops. You're going to need a lot more practice to keep it up and still move your head!

[Joseph picks the gyroscope back up, its center still spinning, but beginning to lose momentum at this point.]

I will! I'll practice lots and lots, you'll see! [He grins up at her.] Do you have toys like this in your room?
