Nope. [He shakes his head. He doesn't hang out with a lot of medical personnel.] You could ask on the network though. Someone's bound to answer. Or if you don't wanna ask everyone, you should talk to Ino. She's good about that sort of thing.

Ah, I might take you up on that sometime. Though, I can't be sure I'd be much of a student - I was still getting used to driving cars...

It's easier than driving a car since there's not that much traffic. You'd pick it up quick.

Ah, you think so? [He's honestly a little flattered to hear it.] Well, if there's a specific time you have free, I'd be happy to learn a little. I'm not really used to having a lot of teachers. [A beat.] .. Outside of college, of course.

Oh? You go to university?

[Joseph would never because he's not a fan of formal education, but that's still neat! And reassuring if this guy's going to be doing medical stuff.]

For a few years now. It's a long-study program, so I have a good three years left.

[His major also has absolutely nothing to do with the medical field, but we'll keep that to ourselves.]

[It probably wouldn't bother Joseph too much to know that it's not in the medical field. Probably. That's maybe not such a bad secret to keep.]

Well, hopefully you don't forget all the stuff you've already learned while you're here or you're gonna have to start over, huh?

[He laughs at that much.]

I don't think that's a huge problem. I can always see if I can keep up with my studies, anyway. [A beat, then in a clearly joking tone:] I'm not sure if you just doubt my mental capacities or your own.

[Joseph still frowns a little because it's hard not to get at least a little defensive and shrugs.]

I don't like school, so what? That doesn't make me stupid or something.

[Oh. He hadn't been expecting that. Qing blushes a little, shaking his head and waving his hands lightly.]

I didn't mean it like that! It's not formal education that defines someone's mental strength anyway. [He smiles sheepishly.] I didn't know you don't care for school, sorry.

You'd think I would be with my grandmother being a schoolteacher, huh? [Joseph shrugs a little.] It's just boring to me.

Everyone's an individual, I don't think your grandmother's occupation has all that much to do with it. [Qing smiles wryly. Maybe it was never boring for him because of the things he always had to do.] There's nothing wrong with that. Rhetoric's not for everyone, and it's not like we're likely to forget what we find important.

[Thus him not being worried about having to start over, all told.]

So what do you find important?

[aka what are you studying, nerd?]

I've taken a lot of business classes, so I suppose those are important to me in some measure. Fashion and people in general have always been high on my list, too.

And then there's the restaurant and first aid. [He's kind of ambitious, he guesses.]

Thaaat's...a lot of stuff.

I never really figured out what my passion is, in the end. My family runs restaurants, so that's always been part of my life. I feel more strongly about fashion though, I think.

You know, that might be a good way to make some credits on the side...

What, restaurants? Or fashion?

[He laughs.]

If I can find a niche in either I'll probably try.

Honestly either would probably work. The food's kinda shit around here and I think a lot of people would prefer better clothes than what Atroma provides us or we can find on the planets and waystations.

You should really consider it, I'm serious. You'd make a killing.

[Jojo you are so excitable sometimes.]

It doesn't sound like a bad thing, to be honest. I'll have to see about getting a sewing machine and some fabric, or at least some good ingredients.

And a few paychecks to actually afford them.

[He seems pretty happy with the idea, though.]

You know, [he drawls,] if you need help with any of it, I'd be happy to lend you a hand.

[Not for free, of course. But hey, if he can get a cut of some of that action, you bet Joseph is going to try.]

That sounds like a suspiciously double-edged offer, you know. [At the same time, it's kind in its way.] I wouldn't turn down an offer to help, though. And certainly I'd pay you back somehow for any assistance taken.

[He definitely believes in give-and-take in a relationship.]

Excellent! We can talk percentages once you settle on what you want to do and start getting some ideas!

[Because Joseph is not much of a thinker. He's much more of a doer.]
