BAM bowl's down. good work, team. he can go fold up his apron and throw it in a drawer somewhere.]

[Since he cooked, she'll start the washing.]

Do you have any plans for today, champ?

[sweeeeet. he'll give that so-so gesture he's so fond of before standing off to the side, out of the way. ]

[doop doop one bowl is finished. She starts the other.]

So, Cecil's with us now.

[a huff. he knows....]

Is there going to be a problem with that? [Too mellow to be accusatory.]

[he thinks about it, crossing his arms.

he's fine. sure, he'd love to punch her in the throat, but he knows how to control himself around guests and co-workers and, especially, non-vampires. they've talked. he's got her angle. he's starting to understand the value of having a functioning crew, out here.

so it's not really himself that he's worried about. he gestures to get her to look over at him, then signs Coil's nickname.]

[She glances... and then bows her head and smiles a little. Woosh, second bowl down and she plunges the pan under the water now.]

Yeah, I figured that might be the case. I've noticed that you manage the kid, but he's pretty sulky and uncooperative otherwise.

[he signs something else, but stops awkwardly--she wouldn't know it. he'll give, for this one.]

How bad.

Livable, I suppose, but not pleasant. I'd call it insubordinate at home, but we don't have that structure here.

[he sets his jaw, thinking on it further...]

...We do. I'll handle it.

[The pan is done. Hange reaches over to give him a thump on the back.]

Cecil can be kind of effusive, right? Very... personal, I mean.

[Because... Hange can be pretty effusive too, to be fair. But her deepest emotions are held reserved and in check, even if it wouldn't seem that way to most people.]

[oof. he nudges her back in the shoulder with a grunt of annoyed agreement--the nudge itself is just knuckles, relatively harmless.]

[That's fine. And now the pan is done. She sets it aside to dry.]

Well, I'll tell her to take it easy a bit.

[She can understand it's pretty counterproductive to make Zhas feel stressed and pushed and hassled.]

[...oh. that's... really nice of her. that's... really, really nice.

he is actually kind of caught off guard by how considerate that is. it's in the way he looks at her, like he's... a little confused?]

[Yeah, she can tell, and her smile in return is indeed kind.]

Cecil is a kind woman with a good heart, I think, but that doesn't mean she can't make other people uncomfortable. Or approach them the wrong way!

[Jeez she was being sincere when she talked to him about being comrades and wanting a good working relationship too. That extends to people in her crew.]

I can't guarantee she'll listen, at least at first. Cecil has her own ideas about how to do things. [But she will have his back for this.]

[no one ever takes his side about anything. and with Hange, he doesn't feel like it's some kind of a trap, or even a particularly conditional offer.

so he... pats her on the shoulder, a little lighter, and turns to go.]

Tell me if there are any problems.

[Anyway, they're pretty much done here. She's gonna continue on her way outside.]

[GO TEAM. he's off to go try and settle things with his delinquent friend.]
