Time for family movie night on the Windrose!

Who: Crew of the Windrose
Broadcast: Nope
Action: On the Windrose, mingle time!
When: 11/25 and onward

[Wow, the ship's a little smaller, but lookit that view! Let's talk awkwardly about it and mingle!]

Movie Night

[Did someone say seaweed snacks? Vision is bringing two varieties, the rice-like algae baked into rice cakes and long strips of the bacon-flavored kelp, which ends up being not unlike jerky.]

Will this do? I'm afraid there is no substitute for popcorn.

The Vision

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2015-11-25 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[The new windows are a very nice added feature, and more often than not the Vision can be found looking out one of them. Once a day, he takes a reading from the bridge and enters it into a star chart program which anyone else can feel free to look at: it has relative positions of the stars and other astrophenomena observable with their ship's instruments, though it's from an engineering expertise rather than a piloting one.

The reduced lighting doesn't seem to affect him, except that he's set several of his glowing fish in the kelp tank out in the cargo bay to make sure the seaweed gets enough light to grow; there are two others he keeps in his bunk to shed similar light on his potted cacti. He knew picking those up would come in handy.]

The algae are growing well enough that we have snacks for several movie nights. It's fortunate they didn't overgrow during our absence.

I'm afraid I didn't pick up any at the dusty moon. Is this a movie you would apply a drinking game to?

Natasha, open

[personal profile] tothefly 2015-11-25 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's official. The Windrose is smaller than it was when they left her behind. Not by much; just enough to grate. The hallways are just a smidge narrower, the cargo bay a little less open, the bridge now comfortably fitting one body less. Not to mention the windows everywhere, presumably meant to "open it up," that instead offer an anxiety-inducing sense of vulnerability. Not really to her liking at all. After going over everything with a fine-toothed comb, Natasha's going to settle herself in at the flight console, familiarizing herself all over again with the controls, now that she knows how to fly this thing. Feel free to come say hi to your captain, crew.]

Movie!

[personal profile] tothefly 2015-11-25 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Natasha is not necessarily ready to be suckered into routine yet. It's their first night back, first full night back anyway, and she still isn't over the modifications made to what she has, surprisingly, come to think of as her ship.]

[Still, her ship comes with her crew, and Wrath was really excited about the prospect. So here's Natasha, curled comfortably barefoot near her security officer, reaching over occasionally for a piece of not-jerky.]

There's how many movies in this series?

[Hey, she totally understands that. One's comfort television must be held to certain standards. Even if those standards are "must have the same actors."]

So they found the third one for you, but not the first? Anything I should know going in, or are they going to give us a recap?

[Only if it had remained in control - but it had, so he nods.] We are well-supplied for now, at the very least.

I should be able to identify the first and last. Do the explosions not properly follow the laws of physics, or is there another definition of "dumb"? [Good thing he has not-popcorn, indeed.]

Castle | Open

[personal profile] thebestseller 2015-11-26 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Confined spaces didn't do much for Castle, as they reminded him of that time he and Kate had been locked in a freezer and almost died, and now the Windrose seemed even more cramped and closed-in than before.

There were plenty of windows to look at, though, and that helped- and his cleaning droids seemed to have gotten an upgrade, looking more sleek than they had before. Castle could be found sitting cross-legged with them arranged all around him as they awaited things to clean, as though he were about to have a serious conversation with them... or else try and set them against each other, Battlebots-style.]

I have to say, not sure how I feel about the new digs. [Castle sighed as he followed one of his cleaning droids into the bridge.] I'm sure Atroma will want to hear my complaints, right?

I have some sponsor-provided popcorn with butteresque flavoring. Will that do?

[Ah, he's gathered the troops for inspection. The Vision thoroughly approves of the way Castle treats his robot crew - the little ones may not have self-awareness, but they could very well develop it one day. These things happen.

Quietly, he edges in to see if there is in fact a speech on the way.]

Given that there are several movies available on the network now, we may be able to. It would be rather nice to have a scheduled event to gather us all together, as well. [Okay, so some people might not like watching movies, but the option would be there.

He does smile at that.]
Perhaps it is part of their demon ability?

Mihawk | Open

[personal profile] dualcross 2015-11-27 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Mihawk, unlike the rest of the crew, is not partaking in any of the so-called festivities. He has holed up in his cabin and begun to read the book he was given, Dracula - a parody of his surname, "Dracule", no doubt. But as he spend his time looking over the first few pages, he finds the read quite interesting, and continues, laying in bed with his feet up. He has no interest in mingling at all, this was a crew and a ship he did not pick, and while he has no qualms of providing what's necessary...they won't be considered nakama any time soon.

The only times he puts his device down, marking his spot on the e-book, it's to investigate the ship. Color his curious about that at the very least. He'll need to familiarize himself with it sooner or later, and best to be prepared. But seas is it cramped, especially for a tall man like him (he's a hulking 6'6"), and he frowns each time he has to squeeze to get by something or someone. He's really liking this set up less and less... Mood not improved given the fact that Atroma or whatever nonsense they call themselves saw fit to give him a sword to "make him feel better".

Hahahaa...fuck off.]

Are there plays posted now? [Their acting skills might be, uh. Better not expressed, but then again, the audience might like it?]

I do like the idea of a regular gathering. We live in a rather small area, but it will still help us to get to know one another better, I think.
unbearablynaive: (geared up)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2015-11-27 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[The only part of the ship that's still relatively spacious is the cargo hold - though it too has been sadly downsized from its previous incarnation. It's certainly the only place where the Vision can feel free to float as he prefers, about a foot off the ground, as he tends to his large kelp tank. He's quite remarkable in his appearance, being rather maroon in color, and he seems to be talking in a low voice to the glowing red fish that's weaving through the kelp.]
