[Vima rubs her face and groans, making a face because wow, did she brush her teeth last night? And then her eyes pop open wide. When did she get back on the ship? She looks around... something is different. It's warmer, for one thing.

And then she spots the flat, circular portrait holoprojector laying on the bunk... she picks it up and she's about to turn it on when she notices her comm is broadcasting. She makes another face--obviously Atroma wanted to see her emotional reaction--but she might as well make use of it.]

Hey, if anyone's picking this up.

Is everyone else back on their ships? Have our hosts said anything yet? [there's a pause as she goes back through a few posts... uh...] I think I overslept.

[ From somewhere in the corridor is the smell of freshly baked apple pie, and then, a knock on her door. No, he wasn't eavesdropping, but yes, he can hear her heartbeat. ]

Hey. Welcome back. I've got pie.

[Oooh, Vima likes that smell. She hops off her bunk and opens the door--and it's almost like the feeling when you open a fridge unit. She should have put on her socks first.]

Hey, captain! [She looks past him, noticing that their ship seems to be subtly... different.] That pie smells pretty good. Uh... did I miss something?

Yeah, they decided all the ships needed some modifications. It's pretty chilly now — nothin' we can't handle, but nothin' we can fix, either. We'll need to focus on insulation and warmer clothes when we stop somewhere.

[ He grins at her. ]

Pie's in the kitchen, if you want some.

We'd better look for some fiberglass on the next planet stop, then. [The cold is okay, though. Reminds her of Rhen Var a bit... she still puts her slippers on before heading to the kitchen, though. And she gets kind of a funny feeling as she's heading down there.] Is it just the environmental controls? Sort of feels like something else is off, too.

[Vima shrugs. It's not really a Force-sense type of sense, more the regular kind.]

I dunno, it seems--smaller than it was? Maybe it's because we were on the big ship for so long.

There's a strange basket from the Atroma as some kinda gift, just be careful in case they gave you somethin' weird.

The same "certain values," then? I suppose that could be worse, then.

The very same we had before being stuck on the Marsiva. So yes, we're back to the same song and dance.

Hey, did your ship change at all while we were away?

It did, yes- it was all aesthetics, though. It's not a wreck by any means, but it looks more bare and utalitarian.

That's weird. It's good they didn't change anything important, but why?

[Stefan's sigh of relief is almost inaudible, but that smile's hard to mistake for anything else.]

[He hesitates for a second.] As far as I can tell, we're all back. No warning whatsoever, as usual.

Yeah, I'm thinking I was out for a little longer than usual. [She frowns.] They just dropped us back on the ships, huh? Have they said anything about what was wrong, specifically, or why?

[he shakes his head] I wish. You know Atroma: they like to keep us in the dark as long as they can.

We uh, did get gift baskets, so you should check around for yours.

Atroma has to stop being so predictable about these things. I guess I'll bug Diamond next time she pipes up.

[She nods.]

Yeah, I found it already... [she takes a second look and fishes the note out.] 'Something uploaded to the network?' What's that about?

You should. [He smiles a little at the mental image - he would pay serious money to watch Diamond weasel her way out of that conversation.]

The network just got a database with a bunch of our names on it, and a file that plays when you click on our name. Mine isn't uploaded yet, but my crewmates got music or books or songs or just - media files that are associated with us somehow.

Hmm, I'll have to check that out. Knowing me, it's probably some ancient scroll from the Library of Ossus.

[ Kotoha is actually brand spanking new to the Heron! And the fleet in general, of course. She's hanging out on the bridge when she picks up on the broadcast, and. Well. There's no harm in reaching out to a shipmate or something, right? She smiles. ]

[waaaitasec that's the bridge! They got a new shipmate while Vima was under?]

Hi! Yeah, if we're getting new people sorted onto the crews again, I guess it's been a little while--hang on, I'll come up and meet you properly.

[She needs to check out the piloting station anyway--and as she approaches the bridge, Vima gets that old 'this person has SOMETHING akin to but not actually the Force' feeling... kind of a weird one.]

Hey! I'm Vima, our pilot. Who are you?

[ And hold on, she does! When Vima arrives, she smiles again, even gives a short, polite bow before waving her hand. ]

I'm Kotoha. It looks like I'm going to be your security officer - I hope that'll be useful. [ nod! ] It's nice to meet you, Vima!

I'm sure it will be. We do get into trouble around here, now and again. Nice to meet you too.

[She hops over into the pilot's seat to check out if anything's changed here, but also trying to work out what it is about Kotoha that's bugging her... it's like there's something bad there, but Kotoha doesn't seem like a bad person?]

Oh, I'm from Earth. Sakurahin, Japan. And I'm actually half. The other half is demon.

[ Which, "demon" is almost nbd where she's from (keyword: almost) - so while she seems a teeny bit worried about admitting it, she's still pretty calm and casual about it. ]

Where are you from? You look human too, at least to me...

Earth is one of the most popular places to nab people from, it looks like. And I'm all Human myself. But I'm not from anywhere around Earth--whole different galaxy.

I've met a couple of people who use that word 'demon.' What does it really mean?
