...that's what they were talking about, right?

Some day I will get to use an icon other than the Frysquint...
...wait, what?
"I'm the security officer. Why would I be here about food?"

The implication wasn't actually insulting, as such. Waiters and stuff worked hard. Just not right. "I'm a soldier." She didn't even feel bad saying that any more, even if she was on disability for her back still, because Jim was her CO and Natasha was her direct CO and neither said she had to be a civilian. "I run the weapons on this ship. We don't have anyone who does serving anything, not with food. Cause we don't have a cook."

She eyed him. Big guys tended to be like that, except for Maine. He'd been different. But they'd started off their friendship with a bar brawl. "You don't believe me? I'd be happy to arm wrestle you."
Bum back or not, she was still mostly artificial muscle fibers and composite bones.

"You don't look much a cripple," he answered evenly. All the same, he wasn't going to arm wrestle some tiny woman. "But nevermind all that. If you do have weapons, I've got need of one."

Okay, finally they were on the same page. "Yeah, I run the armory, so you can come check the stuff out and I'll get you setup. If you're not good with guns you should probably have Natasha show you how to shoot though. She's a lot better at it than me. I mostly do close combat."

"What's a gun?"

...maybe she's getting a little too detailed. She makes a gun shape with her hand. "But basically you aim, you pull the trigger, and bang, whatever's down range is having a really bad day. The hard part's learning how to aim."
