Aaaand there we go. Testing, one two-- [she taps the camera twice and grins a little wider as she hears feedback from her own device]

Is it too late for a Wizard of Oz reference? Because we sure are not in Kansas any more. [her left hand reaches up to fiddle with a strand of her wavy blonde hair as she looks up, past the camera]

So tell me if I leave anything out, because here's what I've got figured out so far. We're on Survivor: Space Edition, with just a dab of Star Travel mixed in for flavor. And I'm guessing instead of getting voted off the island, we get jetted off into space? Man, and I thought human reality TV was vicious. Turns out aliens are the real assholes.

[but despite that she laughs a bit at her own joke and turns her full attention back to the screen before she continues]

I guess the meet-and-greet comes next. Hey, I'm Sarah. [she wiggles the fingers of her right hand in a half-hearted wave] Nice to meet you, blah blah blah. While we're on the subject of introductions, I looked through the contestant list, and you guys have some wild names. Special shout out to "Belthazar" and "Adrasteius"... I can't tell if your parents were huge nerds, or if they just hated you.

So! Who all is out there? Don't be shy, I don't bite... much. [aaand yep, she accompanies that with another shit-eating-grin. She'll also be lounging around the Golden's kitchen area... Draped forward on the counter and snacking on her free pudding. Such a class act, this one.]

Me? I'm Shawn Hunter. [eyebrow raise, though he's not really expecting an introduction in return] I'm one of the engineers. You'll meet the rest of the crew eventually, I'm sure.

So..... you planning on acting like that to us too? Or is that something reserved for the rest of the Fleet?

I haven't decided yet. Probably not, I do have to live with you guys. [she says it candidly, but it's hard to say how true it is]

Yeah, well... [He figures he should tell her, before she has the dubious honor of running into the guy,] You did kinda insult Adra, and he's part of our crew.

[Shawn's smile kind of indicates that he's not too torn up about it. God knows he had the same thought when he first met the guy.]

Oh, really? [wheeew, she runs a hand through her hair] Oh well, I'll work it out.

Communications. Although apparently you guys already have the world's most friendly coms assistant. Sounds like I'll be able to take a back seat.

[Shawn gives a half-shrug. He's not really, but better that she learns from him than Adra.]

Oh, you met Uzuki already? Yeah, she puts her whole heart into everything she does. I'm still not too up and up on comm guys, but she helped me out a lot with my device. [read: mess with her and he'll make so many frowny faces, because that's one girl who does not deserve that level of sass.] Compared to most Earth people? I'm a bit behind on the technology front.

You're from Earth? I guess you do look the part.

[she smirks, and compleeeetely moves away from the topic of Uzuki. She is a sweetheart. Too sweet, it makes her uncomfortable. So she'd rather just avoid the subject all together]

Don't tell me you still have a flip phone, or something?

I wish. Seriously, I'm from 1998, so cell phones weren't that big.

It's kind of mind boggling how we went from waiting for calls at home to... well, your flip phones and your smartphones and your... iPhone? [He knows of it, because he's heard it, but the passing unfamiliarity comes across as clear as day.]

[haha, she can't help but laugh] Yep, you got it in one, Grandpa. iPhones are all the rage these days.

Well I'm glad she's gotten you up to speed. Life without a cellphone sounds majorly inconvenient, sorry you had to go through that.

[He laughs, swishing his soda around a little.] It wasn't bad. Life's a little slower without them. You're on time more, because you can't just ping someone and go "hey, I'm running late." I like these things well enough, but I don't know. I don't mind talking to people if I get lost.
