Who: Allen Walker and You!
Broadcast: Video
Action: Blue Fish!
When: Today
[If you've been in the fleet for awhile you might have seen one of these broadcasts before. Allen appears to be in the Blue Fish lab, standing behind a table. Behind him Timcanpy sits on a shelf, this time wearing a small Santa hat. Allen seems to have a smile on, but for the observant it might seem a bit more staged than normal]
Hello everyone! For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, I'm one of the medics aboard the SS Blue Fish. Which I must say, I'm quite glad to be back on the Blue Fish after the last couple months we've had.
Just a couple announcements today! We'll be holding our bi-monthly blood drive next weekend! The blood donated will be kept in case of medical emergencies that require a blood transfusion - in other words, using scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you are interested in donating, we will pay you in money. Just fill out the form attached to this video. [And sure enough, the form is attached]. If you're interested in volunteering at the drive, we'd welcome the help, just let me know.
And yes, as always, there will be cookies and juice for anyone who donates.
[Alright, that's done, moving on now]
Secondly, it's come to my attention that during this time of year, many worlds have special holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Veil, Hearth's Warming Eve, New Years and probably others I haven't heard of yet. There's nothing wrong with choosing to celebrate them even though we are far from home. If anything, it might help people feel a bit better about being here. No matter where you are or what you celebrate- it stands true that a holiday spent with the people you cherish can be truly magical.
[There's a beat as he smiles at the camera, then he continues on in the same chipper manner:]
That said, please be careful of any holiday decorations that may actually be magical, because in some worlds' traditions that's a good way to wind up kissing your crewmates. And if you choose to spend these holidays drinking, please remember to eat and stay hydrated. You'll thank yourself in the morning.
That's all for now! I hope you have a good day and a nice holiday season.
[He gives a wave to the camera before the feed cuts out]
[OOC: As usual, the blood drive will be handwaved due to time! Thanks all!]

[Even if she probably doesn't meet the weight limit. But she thinks she's healthy, and no one's ever explained what pounds are.]
Though, in case it's relevant... I used to regularly feed a vampire. She never took enough to do anything, and we were never even sure she was the kind of vampire who could do anything that way, but... Well, in case there's something weird, that might be it.
video
[Annnd half the time they are just being macho.]
But alright, thank you for letting me know! I don't know if that would affect your blood, but I'll keep an eye out for it when I test it.
video
[She doesn't think there should be, but... Well, she did die a few times. And turned into a monster a couple times. It might not be weird for there to be something weird with her blood.]
By the way, what are those holidays you mentioned?
video
[Yeah hey, it's always good to check that stuff. Since man, sometimes you get weird blood- like that time someone's blood sample glowed, that was weird]
Uh- which holidays do you mean? I listed a lot...
video
... Well... All of them? I don't recognize any of them. Are they all just winter holidays?
video
Though honestly, I can only really speak about Christmas and New Years, since those are ones that I'd celebrate back home.
video
Can you tell me about those?
video
Well, New Years marks the end of the calendar year that most people on Earth and other worlds use. New Years Eve is December 31st, and New Years Day is January 1st. Every country has their own variation of how they celebrate, but usually people celebrate it by staying up until midnight and partying to send the year off. And there's a tradition called New Years resolutions where you make a vow to do something in the new year like eat healthier or quit smoking - but most of those get broken by February.
[That's just a fact okay]
Christmas is on December 25th, with Christmas Eve on the 24th. For Christians it's meant to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God, so it's our largest holiday. It's celebrated ideally by spending time with your loved ones, exchanging gifts and being kind to your fellow man. [Though unfortunately not everyone follows that part] There's church things too if you're a Christian, though plenty of non-Christians celebrate the holiday too and just focus on the general spirit of the holiday and other things often associated with it.
video
So... You celebrate a demigod's birthday, and... Make promises for self-improvement and then break them?
video
[Though honestly, he's pretty used to hearing pretty stupid things about his religion. It's one of the reasons he tended to be more private about it.]
He's not quite a demigod- it's more complicated than that. But yes, that's about it. It's not that people intend to break the resolutions, but...it tends to happen anyway.
video
Oh... I guess that makes sense. Self-improvement's hard. Still, for such an important holiday, it seems strange.
video
Christians, we believe he had....I suppose you could say a deeper connection to God. A connection that far surpassed any other human's connection to the divinity. That's why we call him the Son of God.
[He gives a small ha] I suppose it would be. It's more like....people view New Years as a chance for new beginnings? But it's rarely that easy.
video
[She does seem quite freaked out by that idea.]
I guess 'setting reasonable goals' isn't one that gets made often?
video
[So you're safe from that as long as you stay far away from weird-ass memes.]
Um, probably not. But you can make any resolution you want! And maybe you'll come up with something you'd actually keep!
video
[your religion is terrifying]
Not sure I'll be participating in that tradition, at least. I'd rather see if I can try to remember anything about Ashvaran tradition over figuring out Earth's.
video
[But ...yeah. Yeah it is.]
Ah, I see. Well if you remember anything, let me know?
video
[okay. okay let's make a shitty joke and move on because holy shit let's never think about that again.]
I remember one, but it's... Not exactly feasible here.
video
[But right, moving on]
What is it?
video
video
video
It's not too bad. It's not really that fun when you're single, anyway.
video
video
It's a celebration of Betyl and Sessho, who the moons are named after. They became the first heroes through their love for each other.
video
How did they become heroes through their love?
video
The short version, their feelings gave them strength to overthrow a god.
