[ the feed clicks on with an abrupt vision of peggy carter, sitting (once more) on the starstruck's bridge. today, however, she's without the casual accouterments of tea or mug or whatever what might suggest her address is anything but business-like. ]

Have we got anyone amidst our number who might be considered to be considered a de-facto expert on these...implants of ours? [ ... ] I've got questions to ask. And I've heard tell of at least one person attempting to remove theirs. If it's an undertaking that anyone else has pursued, I wouldn't mind a little chat.

[ -- she puffs her cheeks and (upon a moment's consideration) adds a disclaimer: ] I have heard about how fruitless and frankly painful the attempt likely is -- rest assured, I'm not pining for any sort of elective surgery. [ not yet, at least. ]

For the time being, let's call it a mere preliminary investigation.

[ and one she doesn't like talking about over the damned network -- but if others are right, it's not as though they have much privacy off the broadcasts, either. she'll make her first fresh inroads in this fashion, and return her work to the shadows when required. ]

I do not know. It's possible. Or it could very well end up harming their augments, if they are all controlled by the same entity.

Hm. I imagine that Atroma are paid well for our capture here. They must get some sort of recompense for bringing us here and putting us on show.

Given how they pay us, then -- yes, you're likely right. There's an economy at work.

There is, though it does make me wonder whom are exactly paying for such a thing.

Perhaps. Or perhaps it is a higher power again. I have heard of such people before, with the power to fund such a thing.

[He will consistently blame United Earth for this. It's the only explanation that makes sense to him. ]

They wanted complete domination, including other worlds beyond their own. A group called the Initiative kidnapped us from our own worlds in order to be a resistance to them. We defeated them, but I would not be surprised to see them rise again and do something like this.

[Start small, work their way up. ]

And didn't you feel any particular resentment against this other group -- this Initiative -- for conscripting you?

Of course I did. They still kidnapped us, even if it were for decent means. I felt no connection to them. The people of the land they protected, however, Exsilium...they were good people. People who suffered and died as a result of the Initiatives efforts in the war.

And so they become the lesser of two awful evils.

Exactly. Regardless, they did offer us a way home, as a reward, once the war was won.

...Unfortunately I did not end up going home, I just arrived here.

It wasn't, but it was much harder for others. I survived.
