[ the feed clicks on with an abrupt vision of peggy carter, sitting (once more) on the starstruck's bridge. today, however, she's without the casual accouterments of tea or mug or whatever what might suggest her address is anything but business-like. ]

Have we got anyone amidst our number who might be considered to be considered a de-facto expert on these...implants of ours? [ ... ] I've got questions to ask. And I've heard tell of at least one person attempting to remove theirs. If it's an undertaking that anyone else has pursued, I wouldn't mind a little chat.

[ -- she puffs her cheeks and (upon a moment's consideration) adds a disclaimer: ] I have heard about how fruitless and frankly painful the attempt likely is -- rest assured, I'm not pining for any sort of elective surgery. [ not yet, at least. ]

For the time being, let's call it a mere preliminary investigation.

[ and one she doesn't like talking about over the damned network -- but if others are right, it's not as though they have much privacy off the broadcasts, either. she'll make her first fresh inroads in this fashion, and return her work to the shadows when required. ]

I've been studying what I can of the augment since I arrived here, I can try to answer what questions you have.

Though, ah, yes. I'd highly discourage trying to remove one. [It happened to him once, it was a pain he could've lived without]

Are you speaking from experience or from a font of good sense? [ a brief smile -- she imagines the answer might as easily be 'both'. either way, she remembers this one from their brief chat about blood donation a while back. ]

Unfortunately from what I can tell, the augment is hooked up directly to our central nervous system- at least in species that have a central nervous system. [He couldn't say what it's like for other species.] That's how it uploads information into our minds, but sending signals to the appropriate part of our brains that can interpret the information.

So I would imagine, that tampering or attempting to remove it could very potentially lead to permanent neurological damage.

[So don't. do. it.]

[ see? this is what's bothering her. this is the rub of the problem, not some strong-headed desire to see her own cut out. ] Individuals come and go, but without memory of this place. Without cause to remember it, to boot. The augments themselves surely don't survive these...lapses in attendance.

...That's only if the people who return with no memory are the exact same people who were here before. There are countless numbers of dimensions after all, and we have no hard evidence yet that people return home when they leave.

I'm afraid we have a lot of unanswered questions about what Atroma does and the procedures they do to attach these augments to us.
